My friend, who has recently discovered Card Hunter, suggested this idea to me; a whole expansion consisting of player-created scenarios. What I mean by this is several campaign adventure modules grouped together (with their own unique map icon, information booklet theme, etc.) each made up of a number of player scenarios. The scenarios of a module could be all made by the same player or by different players, and they could be on any theme and use any combination of monsters - basically a few Mauve Manticore adventures all grouped together, bought for a small amount of pizza. The expansion could even be called a Mauve Manticore Special Edition or something. In addition, as each adventure would be a treasure hunt, all the guaranteed loot could be player-designed items. Also, maybe, like the other expansions, there could be a special bundle including the treasure hunts, one month of club membership and a few new figures which could also have been designed by players. All the players who design aspects of the expansion - scenarios, items and figures - should probably receive some pizza too, maybe enough to buy the scenario. Any thoughts or comments about this idea?
Indeed, there have already been MM editions with "Supplements" where adventures and themes continued. Dogs, anyone? $:^ ] Also, MM winners do get pizza already, fwiw. If this idea were to become any kind of reality, it might be nice (perhaps even instead of a flat lump sum of pizza) for an expansion creator to receive ongoing pizza "royalty" for each of its purchasers. Of course, in my mind, to call something an "expansion" and yet feature no new monsters, cards, etc. ..... eh. Also, to say here are Mauve Manticores you have to pay for ..... eh. Either way, "no, thank you," kinda comes to mind. Overall neat idea imo, though. $:^ ] EDIT: Oh, oh, I missed the part of "new figurines designed by players" ... hmm ... that could be neat -- even without the expansion idea -- although any art being non-Ben Lee might not .. mesh as well. (I can see one unique exception for Flax's avatar, though. lol)
Player designed equipment would have to be limited in its play to the expansion itself or else people could quickly hijack the balance of the game.
Perhaps it shouldn't be called an expansion - maybe more like a 'Mauve Manticore Bumper Pack'. Also, I think the benefit of gaining guaranteed high-rarity items as rewards for completing these treasure hunts would make up for the pizza cost, so long as it isn't too expensive. The player-designed items which would be included as treasure hunt rewards would be chosen in a similar way to Aloyzo's Arsenal - people would post ideas in a thread, and then a few winning ones would be selected, meaning that no unbalanced items would make it into the game. On another note, perhaps a few player-designed cards could be included on the items as well? (the art would still be designed by Blue Manchu to make it 'fit in')
This is already possible with Mauve Manticore: It's already been done by tuknir (MM2s), myself (MM3s), most recently Lord Patches (MM16).
