Currently standing, or the "naughty index", is used as a slight deterrent to tanking matches. There are some negatives associated with abusing ones standing. Namely, there might, possibly, someday, be some kind of official sanction. You don't get listed on the meta boards. You don't get counted in the PvP season(s). To that I would say: Big deal. What I mean by that is, if people want to abuse their standing they are going to do it regardless of the punishment. Exile, suspension, bans, being told to sit on the naughty step. These are all badges of honour for the standing tanker. The reality is, if people want to abuse their standing blantantly or inadvertantly they are going to do it and /shugface at the consequences. There is going to be no mass moral shift. Thus, the stick is utlimately impotent. I would propose that instead of punishing those with a low standing, that those with a high standing should be rewarded. It hurts the standing tankers more to reward others than to attempt to harm them directly and this allows those who actually pay attention to standing be appropriately justified.
