This may be an unfortunate sequence that's "working as intended" but it looked so strange when it happened that I feel it should be reported. I have two characters on opposite sides of a Trog Gouger. One of them plays Simple Bash, which is absorbed by the trog's Crude Plate armor, which in turn activates Jump Back 1. So the trog jumps back -- sideways relative to my two characters -- takes 0 damage, and then immediately moves back to the square it started from. In fact, the log says "Grug moved" twice in a row before the turn changed and Gary passed. BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Throne of Strench,Scenario=Frozen Warren,Msg=The active player is now mightymushroom BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Throne of Strench,Scenario=Frozen Warren,Msg=Player, mightymushroom,Event,PlayAction,Action,Simple Bash BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Throne of Strench,Scenario=Frozen Warren,Msg=Player,Gary,Actor,Grug,Event,Move,Origin,(6, 4),StartFacing,(-1, 0),Destination,(7, 4),EndFacing,(-1, 0) BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Throne of Strench,Scenario=Frozen Warren,Msg=Grug took 0 damage BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Throne of Strench,Scenario=Frozen Warren,Msg=Player,mightymushroom,Actor,Grug,Event,Move,Origin,(7, 4),StartFacing,(-1, 0),Destination,(6, 4),EndFacing,(-1, 0) BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Throne of Strench,Scenario=Frozen Warren,Msg=The active player is now Gary BATTLE LOG: AdventureName=Throne of Strench,Scenario=Frozen Warren,Msg=Gary passed. I pieced together afterward that it must have been the Slide Back instruction on the Simple Bash. The next square in the direction of the attack was occupied so it "kept" the Trog Gouger on its starting square. (I'm guessing that it would have moved the trog to the other square if it were open?) The second "Grug moved" must have been the trog turning to face the attacker.
It's a bit tricky to get a screenshot of reaction double moves after the fact, you know. How about a reconstruction like they use in traffic court? In the attached picture: 1) This shows the position of my characters on the Frozen Warren map. A Trog Gouger stood between them facing in the direction of the red arrow. The Wizard takes a swing with Simple Bash. The Gouger's armor activates and rolls successfully. 2) The armor causes the Gouger to Jump Back 1 into the open square mostly hidden behind my priest. The log says that it moved, and then says that it took 0 crushing damage. 3) The Gouger immediately moves back into the square between my characters. The log says that it moved, and then says it moved again. It ends up facing toward the wizard. I had actually forgotten about Slide Back 1 because I'm not set up for bashing, it was a tag-along card. But that's the only effect that was left to resolve after the damage. I think that since the next square in the original direction of attack was occupied (Wiz -> Trog -> Pri), the Slide Back put the Trog back into the original square. (The next square on the diagonal line from wizard to trog in picture #2 is blocked terrain, which would also confound Slide Back; but then why not stay at square #2?) So "Grug moved" when Slide Back took effect, and then "Grug moved" when it turned to face its attacker. What should really happen, of course, is that the Gouger should be sliding from position #2 in the original direction of attack (which is also blocked in this case) since that is the vector of the bashing force.
