fewer and fewer players, not attracted even by the balance changes and by the new leagues and the epic chest spam. honestly, is cardhunter slowly drowning?
Sorry, I can't hear your four posts of flame. this is you saying goodbyes last year nearly... (sorry to hear so) this is your thought on trolling... this sounds like something.... but really no...
There are totally better ways of throwing fits. Take a look here and here and here for ideas! ^_^ NB: I am not actually encouraging such behaviour. There is only room for one drama cat.
Our focus for the last few months has been on improving the game. That won't necessarily result in a lot more players joining. Expect to see some initiatives for bringing new players into the game in the next few months.
I will have 1-2 weeks more IRL stuff going on but then I'll be back in ranked play to be the very best once again
well ghostbrain i left the game for 1 year, and a certain time i thought "lets go back into cardhunter and see what changes had been made". i found out that a rebalance has been made and new cards were released, shortly before my comeback. so : - 1 year focussing on the game development , brought good results but at least for me there are some things to be fixed ye, and rather than a big patch every year i would enjoy much more some periodic little adjustments, as well as new items. -during this year the number of people has decreased a lot, and honestly i've been constantly playing the same 20 peeps over and over , with like 5 that are at the centre of my gaussian. - now jon says they are going to raise users in the next few months, but if the "few months" needed to rebalance were 1 year, i think i'm going to leave again for some time, maybe i will come back in spring to see where is the situation going. pity for the week of membership wasted, but it's a pleasure aniway to support :v
Perhaps it is unfounded of me to raise your other previous posts, as I generally disregard negativity because finding an optimistic point of view is, in my mind; a much more condusive question. I apologise to you for being so uncandid. Simply put however, I didn't want to see a thread bad mouthing cardhunter because it lacks a player basis. The game is in great hands, and as with most indie developed projects, balancing issues/bugs arise due to sheer manpower/resources not being enabled to fix things so quickly. The time and the effort to create an original game concept is enough for me, and rather than say 'not enough people play this' I would like to think the quality of players is at a reasonable good high (which thereby creates a good formal approach to fixes in game). Even if playing the same guys over and over is a 'turn off', they are just as likely to adapt a deck into something new as you yourself are, making each playthrough different. If I take a game like hearthstone (the word itself is blassphemy to me), I could say it has one of the best player basis' in an online card game since year dot. Do I think, however, this massive player base creates more unique gamestyles/decks/memories. No I don't. I would still sit and complain about rock, paper, scissors- just as cardhunter can be put into these terms. Also, hearthstone rockets away with advertising, high PR, and plenty of reviews. It uses tried-and-true branding of the most popular game in the modern age of pc's. The reason for such a successful player base is because of these resources. Not only that, it's a simple game (doesn't take a rocket scientist to play). Doesn't really go for anything new either in concept, apart from modernising a game with conventional F2P models, which again is tried-and-true. Will it drown, as you say, for a lack of players? I heard the same talk over on another game I've played for years (it's still going btw, you may of heard of it- www.quakelive.com/). There are a great many savvy approaches to keeping a game alive, so long as it has a dedicated fan base pushing for it's inherent survival. Which in the case of cardhunter, I believe, it does.
I for one, have enjoyed this game quite a bit since starting earlier this year. In fact, in light of all the recent updates on this game, I just bought a bunch of pizza to show my appreciation and stock up on some Halloween goodies.
