Hi All, So I stumbled across this game yesterday and have had it instantly jump to the top of my most wanted list - I've since read every single blog post and all I can say is, for you guys who were in the comments sections from the beginning, how on earth have you managed to wait a year for this without going out of your minds... Anyhow, just something I noticed because all the Dev Diaries are still fresh in my mind - in one of them, it's mentioned that there can be no right clicking because Flash simply doesn't allow for it. But watching the PAX gameplay, it has right clicking to view card details? I'm just interested as to what has changed (and apologies if you all know the answer to this!) since then - workaround, change of architecture, special something for the convention...?
Right-click in Flash is reserved for a controls/settings menu (not actually disallowed). I've known programs with a custom menu, so I'm guessing that sometime between that diary and PAX, the team figured out how to really, really customize that popup. I have to admit I've never seen the menu so radically altered. It actually takes its context from the object you right-clicked! It's big leap forward for Flash games: my congratulations and sincere thanks to whomever developed the technique! (And if it didn't start with Blue Manchu, please pass my praises along to the appropriate party(ies).)
A more recent update of flash made right-click handling possible, though it's still pretty flakey in some browsers. To counter that we also support mousewheel, shift click, and space bar, all of which can be used to perform the same functions.
Ah, so it was the folks at Adobe, then. It's still a great step for the platform. That right mouse button is a help in just about every PC program since the invention of two-button mice.
