ADD: This was a bug of silent update of Chrome to 51.0.2704.63 m, restart helped.
Did you turn off CH's sound recently? As long as it has sound going, the game tab won't unload. I experience Chrome's issue all the time due to low RAM, but only accidentally kill a silent CH every couple months or so.
