Should Polearm Slash be able to act as armor against your own Backbiting Strike? Backbiting strike is a melee card, and says it does "slashing damage" to you. Currently, it doesn't act as armor against the self-damage, but does protect against the burning effect of a Fiery Stab.
Backbiting Strike does not, however, say, "3 Melee Slashing damage to you." Kind of neat, actually, that it bypasses like that, since the flavor is it's your own messed up technique of swinging your weapon causing some damage to the enemy but also twisting your back the wrong direction, too, thus hurting you inside your armor, completely bypassing any armor effects. Oh wait. It triggers armor. Just not Melee-only armor. Yeah, that's a problem. For consistency, I suppose it should be Melee Slashing? Flavor-wise, though, I instead suggest it be "3 unpreventable Slashing damage to you." It just makes it a lot worse of a card that way is all. (No using it with armor in 1 HP quests, for example.) The fact that Fiery Stab causes Melee Piercing then Melee Fire as well is just wonky. Does it make sense for your clothes/armor to be set on fire, then that fire damage be considered melee? (But would it make sense as magic? .. mm .. I suppose if the physical weapon were enchanted with magical burning, no one would blink an eye. After all, the melee fire is what causes eye-blinking.)
@timeracers: Maybe. Flavor-wise, it's not something outside penetrating inwardly. It's something already inside you. It's your own nervous system pinching or something like that. Just look at that flavor art and flavor text. $E^ }
Nimbus already stops all damage from brain burn, blind rage, and other handicaps excluding demonic ones.
Oof, Nimbus prevents Psychic but not unpreventable? (Interesting. I almost suggested Psychic but figured it didn't really match.) Well, to be consistent with the others, Penetrating sounds right, then. Of course, that's speaking as a designer. As a -player,- I'd much prefer my armor to take care of Backbiting Strike. $E^ J
Dont buff Backbiting any further. If this has to go any direction, then the "from now on unpreventable damage" one. http://forums.cardhunter.com/threads/feedback-backbiting-strike.7104/#post-85690
There's no real way to rationalize Backbiting Strike without changing its functionality. Right now normal armor (e.g. Reliable Hide Armor) DOES apply. The two main options to change it would be to either make the self-damage explicitly melee damage, and allow Polearm Slash to block it (in addition to making Spiked and Barbed hurt you if they block it...), or to make it penetrating, which would make it considerably worse. I'm going to err on the side of not changing the card right now and am marking this topic resolved.
