Hey everyone! So I recently started a remote 4E D&D game (yes yes, whatever) using Roll20.net and it's actually a really cool suite of tools. It allows you to import maps, set up your grid, and include voice/video chat while the "GM" is given more tools to mask/reveal encounters and such. Has anyone else ever tried doing a remote tabletop RPG before? I haven't GM'd in YEARS and would love to hear some stories, either as a player or a GM!
I've GMed Pathfinder over Skype, sometimes with visual aids but often without. It worked out well enough, but the immediacy of in-person roleplay spoiled me and made the online campaign feel like a tedious imitation. I wish you better luck!
One thing I'd like to see in CH would be a no-rules mode for remote dnd play, or simply as a virtual tabletop. Something where multiple figures on a board could be moved around by multiple players. No cards or rules or anything, just a bunch of figures that could be moved around and removed from the board. Maybe with adjustable HP or something.
Flax - Yeah, it's rough but everyone lives in a different state (or country) and it's tough to get a regular group locally sometimes. Roll20.net seems to be doing a decent enough job and we can see our faces on camera anyway (for better or worse, heh). Vakaz - That'd be very cool. Probably not gonna happen anytime soon, but I'd be a fan of it
