Card Hunter does an amazing job of representing the classic fantasy game genre accurately and amusingly. There seems to be one small oversight, though ... where's the archery? Some enemies have archery cards, but I haven't seen any archery-based items or cards for players. I understand there may simply be balance issues given the current classes. The two melee classes could become unbalanced if given long-range attacks. And wizards don't need any more ranged attacks. Perhaps future items, cards, or classes could allow for some archery-based characters?
Oh, the rest of us have been theorizing about this "oversight," too. Personally, I suspect they are storing up archery-type cards in order to release them later as a little expansion. Or, well, a big expansion if it comes along with a new character class, namely the Rogue. They've said that they hope to add a Rogue; perhaps all these little loose ends will be addressed at the same time. Given how you can get various "builds" out of the current classes (e.g., your Priest could be a "healer" or a "crusader"), they might intend the "archer" to be a particular build of Rogue. (Some games put "ranger" as a subset of "rogue," after all.) This is, of course, just theorizing.
There are some archery cards on some units (gnome javelineers (?) and human marksmen), so there's certainly room for a ranged class sometime in the future.
