tried to do a search and couldn't find this info. according to the wiki http://steamtradingcards.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Hunter "Card Hunter had Steam trading card support added on July 13, 2015. There are 7 cards in the series. Because Card Hunter is a Free to Play Game, cards are earned by purchasing in-game content (approximately $9 USD per card drop). " a couple questions. do the purchases have to go through steam? for example, what if i started on kongregate and bought some stuff with kreds, but then switched to the steam client? Second, do purchasing expansion packs count? or is it just stuff like pizza?
I bought the Citadel bundle via browser last weekend and did not receive any steam trading cards for it.
Any purchases made through the Steam client count. I bought EttSC via Steam and got a trading card. The card dropped after an hour of Card Hunter play via Steam. I think the rate stays at one per hour.
Well, they are Steam trading cards. Without Steam they would not even exist in Card Hunter. The system comes from Steam and works the same way in every Steam free-to-play game. It's quite natural that Steam wants players to use the Steam purchasing and other systems for Steam trading cards. Blue Manchu can do nothing about how the trading card system works, it's entirely up to Steam. Blue Manchu's only option is to either offer the trading cards or not offer them at all and Steam players expect to see Steam trading cards in every Steam game, they'd cry foul if the cards were not implemented. Kongregate has their own systems which Steam or playing through the general web client doesn't have. Should e.g. Steam support Kongregate kreds or badges etc? Business doesn't work that way.
