Imagine the following situation: both players only have one party member left, which is each sitting on one of the victory points. The long distance + the difficult terrain might stop players from trying to attack... ending the match in a who passes faster for the remaining time. this can happen on almost any map, but its more likely to happen on this one. I think we need a tiebreaker system that kicks into place when both players remain passive for a long time. (moving one square and back again is passive in this case).
Yeah, this could happen on crypt chamber too. I personally haven't had it happen to me, but I could see the potential for something like this. One character on the right vp, one character on the left, each has 5 vp's, neither wants to leave because they won't be able to reach the other guy... The question is how to fix it...
some ideas on how to fix it: if victory points are contested for 10 consecutive turns without any characters dying, the game ends in a draw the player with most HP wins victory points get disabled, if no one gets damage in the next 10 turns, the game ends in a draw
The quad map is worse. It has victory squares pretty far away from each other and draws are the first thing I thought of when I ran into the map. Hopefully it won't be as bad as I feel it might.
I think the timer handles it fine as is, but i would not be opposed to a turn-based solution. Maybe just start doing unblockable damage at the start of each round after the tenth? 1 point, then 2, then 3, etc.
I nearly had this happen. My warrior on the far left and his warrior on the far right last guys alive. This being the map with the center area filled with difficult terrain (think that is the one you are talking about, don't know names...). Sadly he managed to play things out quite well by passing and selecting cards just right to get step/move cards so he could navigate into the middle, then he waited to have step/move cards which could reach me. Unfortunately my block did not trigger, so he won. But it was quite a risky move on his part. I was content to wait for the 20 minute timer to expire (looked likely his would first). And since there is that timer, the stalemate wouldn't be eternal. But certainly unbearable.
