I understand that when triggered from your hand, cards get triggered from left (newest) to right (oldest). I think that should be reversed (it favors attackers trying to fish for blocks instead of defenders who have strategically saved revealed cards) but that's not really what this is about. I do not understand how the order of activation is determined for attached cards and terrain effects at the start of round. I don't know if attached cards get applied oldest or newest first, but that has never really mattered. What matters is when things like Dimensional Traveler vs. Lava take effect. Sometimes the teleport saves you and sometimes it doesn't. How does that get figured? Is it some combination of board position and order of casting or something simpler?
It should be that cards attached to characters always activate before terrain attachments, although I think there have been a few issues with this not happening in the past. The exact order is explained in "The Order of Play" section on the Card Hunter help page (1. Start of Round Effects). If things aren't occurring as described there then I would report it as a bug.
Dimensional Traveler always saves you from terrain attachments. This is because it procs at the start of the round. I think the confusion is that Slippery does not save you from terrain attachments, because that one activates not at the start of the round, but at the start of your turn. Terrain attachments such as lava proc at the start of the round, so Dimensional Traveler will save you, but slippery will not.
[qoute]1. Start of Round Effects Before any cards are played, existing effects and those caused by cards in each player’s hand are resolved in the following order: In Hand: All cards in the hand of the starting player that trigger at the start of turn resolve in order of oldest to newest, followed by all cards in hand of the opponent in the same way. Attachments: All cards attached to characters controlled by the starting player that trigger at the start of the round resolve. These are checked from oldest to newest, followed by those attached to characters controlled by the starting player’s opponent in the same way. All terrain attachments that trigger at the start of the round resolve. These are checked from the bottom of the board to the top proceeding by column from left to right and then by row from bottom to top.[/quote] This is not what is happening. At the moment, what seems to be happening is all cards controlled by the starting player activate, including terrain attachments, then cards activate for the second player.
Wait a minute, you're right. Both slippery and dimensional traveler say, "At the start of each round." However, dimensional traveler is a teleport and slippery is a free move. Perhaps that is the difference? Either way, dimensional traveler has always worked for me, but slippery has never worked for my enemies (I run a lava deck).
It is indeed the case, I have been using this with my lavamancer for a while. It also makes cantrips more powerful since they give you the ability to change priority. Personally I like this and think that they should change the Help Page, not the game mechanics.
I could be wrong here but if i remember correctly it will not save you from your own lava only your opponents. This has come up before and is because of how things trigger in the turn order depending on is playing first or something like that. If that was not the case and it was hostile lava i guess just report it and see if you can recreate it.
