Oh, great! I already shop at Axes and Things all the time. It's just a left and two lights past Spatula City. It's good to know I'll be able to pick up Card Hunter related...errr...cards there, as well.

Nifty map you've got there. Now... *strokes beard* ... tell me more about this... Keep.

Also, will different Taverns have different stock characters to choose from, or is it just a general "character creation" area? I'm curious if I'll have to "unlock" new areas of the map to access new Taverns to find exactly the characters I want, or if I can just create my female dwarf legion from the word go.

We sell spatulas, and that's all!

Anyway, I like the big ol' map. Very much. And now that I see the "regular" and "completed" adventure graphics . . .

. . . I can't stop seeing the "smoke" as a wispy bit of "spooky dark portal-ness" fading away now that we have smashed its supporting arch. You know, like in a cartoon or something. It amuses me.

But speaking of seeing things, we should avoid the Card Guards' notice I MEAN what are the chances of the "where you are" shield being adjusted to obscure less? Perhaps it could hang out at the top left corner of your location or something, because I can see problems with having it completely obscure an icon. Namely, what if people leave the game and come back in awhile? If they haven't completely and utterly memorized location names, they won't be able to recall what they were last doing by name alone.

Yeah, the idea is that later taverns will stock higher level and, possibly, more exotic characters.

Yeah, that's a good point. We'll play with it a bit and see how it goes. This system hasn't been in the game very long at this stage and we're about to do another big round of internal testing.

    Thanks for the info.

And while I'm at it, I'll throw my support behind Sir Knight's suggestion of a smaller shield icon. On the one hand, it is terrific to have a visual identifier/reminder of where in the heck I am, but on the other hand an arrow on a map doesn't mean much when you don't know what it's pointing to.

    <--YOU ARE HERE!

    Uhh....

What kind of variety can we expect in each tavern? Will there be a sufficient number of choices to allow for different experiences for each player?

Also: can we assume "Startington Keep" is where the player starts? :D

And, importantly, how large is the drink selection?

Re: taverns - I'm not really sure yet. Right now, at the starting tavern you can recruit all races (3) but we start you out with one of each class. The intention is that, if you want a different set of characters (e.g. all wizards) you can go back and buy more later. That might change though.

Re: the keep - yes, that's where you start!

And here I was planning to have my first party be all-human, one of each class(because yes, I value card manipulation highly, and they're balanced, so there's no glaring weaknesses either).

Obviously, you start in Startington Keep. Then, after you unlock more territory, you get to visit New Regionville. Once you've leveled-up enough, you can access the Advanced Playns; and, for the most hardcore of players, the Continent of Endgame Contentia.

    Yeah, you can do that!

Dagnabbit. That's obviously supposed to be the Endgame Continent. Went to all that bother, and I missed.

    Anyway.

I can't recall: is it possible to lose your valuable characters and need to replace them? Now that we know about taverns, I'm getting visions of Heroes of Might & Magic, where your heroes technically don't die and you can always replace them at the tavern.

As long as the Tavern's called The Valhalla Inn or somesuch, I'm fine with that.

For the adventures at least, will the map have mouse-over text with simple descriptions and perhaps a Recommended Level Range for the adventure to quickly peruse things, or will we need to click into each in turn to read the full spiel? Of course, it could also be implemented for shops (We sell Axes. And things! Level 1-10 Common and Uncommon weapons for sale.) and taverns (More tables in dark corners than you can shake a drow at! Level 1-5 adventurers for hire.), but such are far less important.

Edit: Nevermind, Rudolpho answered my question already.
