I really like some of the new avatars! The dwarf mage looks great, the dwarf warrior is eh, was kind of expecting a more 'bare chested big axe' or dual axe berserker kind of thing but im sure its on the way ! The humans all look amazing, especially the priests. Also love the way the new avatars are sealed in plastic like toys, and when you buy one it even leaves ripped lines around them where the plastic was peeled off, someone went the extra mile and they have the dwarven beard of approval.

Unless the artist is a women.
Unless she WANTS the beard ... Tolkein said even female dwarves have beards.

I particularly love the look of the new female elf warrior with the ball and chain. There's just one problem: it's an elf!

She probably keeps it around to catch herself a nice Dwarven husband with, chain it to his leg so he cant get away =/ I love the human fighter, armored from head to toe and big'ol sword

A word of warning, the models are class / race locked, i.e. that nice chunky Dwarf with the Warhammer can only be used as a Dwarf Priest. I was caught out by that as I thought I could use him in my Dwarf Warrior slot.

Posting in this slightly-older thread because here's where we discussed the class/race locking.

    I was thinking. (Dramatic music.)

"Dwarf with the Warhammer can only be used as a Dwarf Priest"? Well, I suppose it makes sense: when you look at a board, you get an instant reminder of what each model is. "Hmm, that one's short. And it has a blunt weapon. Dwarf Priest." Communication is good.

So you look at the Wizard models for sale: they all carry a staff and/or have glowing hands. Easy communication.

So, Warrior models: they all carry a sharp weapon.

So, Priest models: they all carry a blunt weapon.

Except I'm wrong on those last two. ONE model, and exactly ONE, has a blunt (-ish) weapon in the Warrior pile: the Elf noted earlier. Likewise there's ONE with a sharp weapon in the Priest pile: see the Dwarf page for an axe among the hammers.

If they're going to insist that models are class-locked, then the models need to communicate class consistently. Now, I don't hold with the idea that Priests can only use blunt weapons: it's a needless tradition that came out of a casual suggestion for "religious restrictions" in classic D&D. But if we're using the cliché, it should be consistent. Come on: there are no ball-and-chain items in a Warrior deck, and no axes in a Priest deck! Someone's going to look at those incongruous models (the elf and dwarf) and lose track of where the REAL Warrior and Priest are on the field.

I can see the need for consistency in MP, but not for SP. Otherwise I'm with you 100%

Point taken. We're considering making sure that all Priests don't have helmets on, as that's an actual class restriction.
