I know that PVP is already in, but are there any plans to develop some co-operative multiplayer modules? Also, are all the modules pre-defined encounters? Or are there some random encounter type modules?
No random encounter modules as is, there hasn't been any mention of it by the devs AFAIK. Coop, dungeon master mode (player vs monster player) and team pvp has been stuff the devs have been positive towards, but that's not something for release in terms of priority.
I've always preferred co-op over PVP myself. Just personal preference but there are very few games I play PVP. Of course they are all strategy turn based games that I do play PVP in so I am looking forward to this. DM mode would be fantastic though.
I definitely believe that the game lends itself to a co-op mode where there are modules designed for co-op play, or where you can co-op current modules and they have modifications made for co-oping (or you only get to bring half your party and your partner brings half). It would lead to a lot of fun imho. The longevity of a game is predicated upon its multiple modes of play and in multiplayer interaction. A module editor where you can create your own modules and multiplayer modes would make the game infinitely playable.
Perhaps I need to explain a bit... Board games are USUALLY PvP so there is that factor (although the team spirit in axis & allies is awesome) to consider. But in a video game I truly dislike PvP (tired of getting schooled by mouthy 12 year olds lol) UNLESS its a strategy turn based game. That's where my love of a challenge comes out.
Yeah we get it, PVP turn base is great (already in game and WIP) but DM mode and co op are good bet too
Based on my humorously tiny grasp on net code and coding in general i would say that 2v2 1v1v1v1 and such would probably not take a massive amount of work. But obviously the game needs to be finished first and the feature considered as its not just about pushing out fast content.
Everything takes a load of work when it comes to coding Trust me! Even after the framework and game engine are fully developed. However, definitely think it would put this game over the top.
I would like to see maybe a horde mode where mobs keep spawning and you need to keep them away from a victory point with a friend. If they sit on the square for one turn its the end of the match. Could be leaderboards too!
