Me again, I've been thinking a bit recently about other potential classes and perks that could be added to Cardhunter, and was thinking a little bit about the potential to multi-class. Now this is coming from a pure PvE perspective, I'm not much of a PvPer, so I don't have a decent grasp on how these thoughts would affect the balance of MP combat. That said: Warriors: I was thinking a Warrior could give up a weapon slot for either a staff or divine weapon slot. Particularly in the early stages of the campaign, this could make it a little easier to build a bashing warrior since a lot of bashes show up on even low level staves and divines. Call them something like Templars (Priest) and Spellblade (Mages) or something like that. Priests: This one I'm still kinda waffling back and forth on, since I'm not 100% on where a Priest would make the sacrifice. I was thinking they could sacrifice a Divine Item slot for either a Helmet (Paladin) or...and this is where I was petering out. I could suggest staff again, or divine item. Maybe trade divine armour for robes? Wizards: This one seemed the easiest as far as what to give up, although again I'm not sure how this would affect the balance the classes already strike. But they could give up an Arcane Item slot for either a shield (...Bard? Hexblade? Help me out here.) or a Divine Item. (Mystic, Shaman, White Wizard etc) Anyway, just some thoughts that have been bubbling around in my brain, I'd love to see what other people think.
As a flat "trade slot for slot" I don't see it working. Maybe if there was some penalty for doing so it could be feasible. Like trade slot and 1 max HP per card for slot. Or swapping out a full set of slots (all Divine Items replaced with Arcane Items). Otherwise... there are already some cards that show up on "off class" items. So those represent the dual-class well enough, if you emphasize using such items. Like the bash skills on Wizard weapons. Completely out of place, unless you consider them a bit of a battle caster.
I'd be down for something akin to this, except I think it should use a power token to make the swap. So, for example, you want your Wizard to swap out a Staff slot for a Weapon slot? Go for it, but he uses up one power token to make the swap in addition to whatever other tokens his actual item selection uses. Staff<-->Divine Weapon<-->Weapon Robe<-->Divine Armor<-->Heavy Armor Arcane Item<-->Divine Item/Shield<-->Helmet/Shield ?
Ah, I like the idea of using a power token for the swap. Makes it something you need to seriously consider over something you might just do for the heck of it.
The bashes on Wizards aren't entirely out of place, think of it as a "Oh ****, he's right on top of me, GO AWAAAAAYYYY!!!" I mean, yeah, they could be seen as battle wizards, but it's not the only way.
Yes, the bash is USEFUL to push someone out of melee range. But is it APPROPRIATE for a wimpy little bookworm to hit an armorclad beefcake of a warrior so hard he flies back out of arm's reach?
Well, you notice there isn't that many Bashes, at the very least less than is possible for any other class, so I'd say adrenaline. You'd surprised what the human body can do when scared. Believe me, firsthand experience.
Well, there are already plenty of bashes on staffs: Jade Battlestaff Opal Battlestaff Rowan Magestaff Sapphire Warstaff Stinging Staff They're quite fun in MP
