We totally need this, I agree. I have been checking the forum daily and I noticed the number of these steadily increasing.
I wonder if this post gathered any dev's attention, and if a dev would like to comment on the situation.
Most / all of the recent spam bots point to the same web page. If the black hat is using the same ip (range) for most / all of the bots, maybe it could be banned from the forums?
At the risk of sounding completely and utterly ridiculous [especially to the current moderating staff that are actually around on a regular basis], I feel as though I should say something, here: I know I'm not exactly full of credibility around here [since I've only been here since June of '15], but, I know that if I ever stopped showing up to my job for 3 months straight without any explanation at all, I wouldn't have a job when I got back. I know that for certain. I would sincerely suggest that any forum or chat moderator that hasn't logged in AT ALL over the past 3 months needs to be demoted and replaced; Card Hunter isn't exactly low-key, anymore, especially since it let out on Steam [and I don't have to explain the recent Steam debacle, do I?]. CH is also on Facebook and Twitter; both sites that also has their fair shares of lurking troublemakers too bored to do something besides endlessly spam stupid things. In short, IMO, this forum can't afford to have a touch-and-go moderating staff. It really can't. Anyone that agrees to be a Moderator from here on needs to be expected to do what they agreed to do, and it's impossible to do that if they're not here on at least a semi-regular basis. .....just saying.
I don't know how many forum moderators we have, nor how many are active at the moment. I know some mods have been otherwise occupied recently. In any case, it probably wouldn't hurt to add a few active users even if they are only authorized to dispose of spam.
This recent spam increase hit us during seasonal downtime, so we haven't been able to properly respond to it yet. I expect we will discuss it tomorrow.
I suspect BM has a massive pile of spam reports by now, and can tell who sent them. It makes me wonder whether I should stop spamming them with spam reports.
