Mini Series - Custom Maps

    Hi everyone,

    Im posting map 1 of 3 that I been working on. Please try this one out and give me suggestions, tips, and advice. I'm looking to submit the series to MM if I get good feed back. Thanks.

    No name for the series yet, but here is the first chapter.
    (If anyone is good and polish at writing stories and would like to help, please let me know)

    1. An Unexpected Encounter

    Story:

    As you arrived at the Windsong Tavern, you notice a priest sitting by the fireplace, and some loud and drunk city gaurds. You quietly buy a loaf of bread with the last of your money and find a place in the corner to eat with your monkey friend.

    Bar Tender: "Im sorry sir, but we are out of Newt Ale."
    Guard: "What kind of tavern runs out of Ale? Come on boys lets get out of here."
    Bar Tender: "Sir, may I collect the silver for the meals you and your men have eaten?"
    Guard: "The only thing you will be collecting is the end of my blade!"

    The guard draws his sword and point at the bar tender

    Preist: "I will NOT tolerate this!", she yelled as she jumps out of her chair and draws her spear.

    Guard: "On guard boys, this is a pretty one."

    Aftermath:

    Priest: "Your fighting style, I have not seen it since... Who is your master warrior?"
    Warrior: "I suggest you get out of here before more city guards shows up", you said as you grab your bread and head for the door.
    Priest: "I could use a warrior of your skill on my mission."
    Warrior: "Not interested"
    Priest: "200 gold pieces, 10 now and the rest when the mission is complete"

    You stop as your about to step out of the door, your stomach started to growl again from not eating in days. Hesitant for a while, pondering, but then you turn to the priest.

    Warrior: "I'm Jin, this is Monkeo," pointing to your monkey friend.

    The priest toss you a small back pouch "I'm Gwena, here is your down payment."

    Questions to BlueManchu or whom ever can answer for me:

    1. Is there a way to change the Avatar for the characters im using in my map? For instance I like to use a different Icon for my character Jin as one of the elf warrior weiding 2 swords.

    2. Is there a way to re-name your characters in game instead of the names that is pre-set for them already?

    Unfortunately, the answer to both questions is "no" right now. :(
     
  3. Sure. In the multiplayer keep there is a small pencil beside the names of your characters.

    Click on it to change their name.

    While helpful (and correct), I got the impression the op wanted to change names in custom maps - which isn't possible.

    Yes, thank you LeisureSuitLoli for answering the question, but Pengw1n got it. I was asking about changing the pre-set names from the custom maps characters. I should have been more specific of my question, sorry about that.

    Anyone got any feed back on the Story or the Map though?

    I will post the 2nd and 3rd map soon, I already have it made, just need time to write the story.

    Here is the 2nd map.

    2. The Rescue

    Story:

    After a few days of tracking a goblin trail with your new employer Gwena, you arrived at an unfamilar dungeon.

    Gwena: "I need to send words to my Lord that we have located Lady Laurawen whereabouts".
    Jin: "The goblins were moving quickly, she will not be kept here long".
    Gwena: "We do not know what kind of forces they have in there, we need reinforcement".
    Monkeo: "Uo u o gu gah gah ack, Gggu," pointing to himself then towards the town.
    Jin: "Are you sure buddy?"
    Monkeo: "Gah Ga"
    Jin: "Monkeo will take the message to your Lord, we can stay here and persue as needed"
    Gwena: "Take this message and show the guards this pendant, they will let you pass"

    While Monkeo was away, you notice movement in the dungeon. Afraid they will move Lady Laurawen again you decide to sneak in for the rescue...

    Aftermath:

    Gwena: "Lady Laurawen, I'm sorry for my delay, are you hurt?"
    Laurawen: "Thank you Gwena, I'm alright"
    Jin: "We need to move".
    Priest: "Here, take this equipment"

    Goblin: "INTRUDERS!!!"

    Map 3 of the Series

    3. Not so Sneaky

    Story:

    Priest: "I saw another way out when the goblins dragged me in here yesterday"
    Laurawen: "Wasn't it heavily guarded by Ogre?"
    Priest: "Yes, but they are slow, you should be able to get by them quickly"
    Laurawen: "Your not coming with us Tuhan?"
    Tuhan: "You need time to move, I will stay here and hold them off"
    Laurawen: "No! I will not leave you behind"
    Gwena: "We need to be on the move Lady Laurawen"
    Jin: "I'll lead". ... ... "Thank you, Tuhan".

    Tuhan looks you in the eyes and nods, "Please find them safety".

    Aftermath:

    Gwena: "Looks like the path took us outside the borders of our kingdom."
    Laurawen: "Any sign of Tuhan?"
    Gwena looks to the ground in sadness "I will report to your father of his honerable sacrifice."
    Jin: "We need to find food and shelter."
    Laurawen: "What are you doing?"
    Gwena: "He's leaving markings for Monkeo to find us."
    Jin: "Lets move quickly, we are on our own now."

    Alright!! this conclude the first 3 chapters of the mini series. Feed back are welcome, please leave them. Here are a few questions I'm looking for answers to help me out.

    1. What do you think of the story line so far? Do I need to improve the writing? (not my strong suit)

    2. Do you like how the characters weave in and out so we get variety of characters to use from chapter to chapter? Or would it be better if I keep all the characters the same all the time?

    3. How are the battles? Too hard, too easy? Do you feel that it help move the story along?

    4. Does the maps look apealing? enough details? or too much?

    5. Anything else you like to add would help :D Thanks for your input and testing out the maps.

    1,2: I was a little confused trying to figure out which character was which. Could you use the same names used in the game?

    4. Map 2 looks good. I'd add more details to the first (stools) and third (cobwebs, stains).

    1.2. I was really hoping I could change the names of the characters in the game, but it doesnt look like the editor allow that yet at the moment. I will take this suggestion into consideration to clear up confusion.

    4. I thought about stools for the first one, but the stool graphics make them look like they are all sideways. However, now that I think about it, they are all "jumping" out of their chairs for battle.

    I also agree with you on the third map, I will go back and add more details.

    i did a map some time ago where 2 lord batfords where having a martial arts match and where atacked, 2 lord batfords work rly good,alot of dodge,ducking and "shurikins" action, and having both, they can use the raise the alarm card.
