Hi all! I'm a new player who has been loving my time playing Card Hunter! I started playing the game after seeing it on Humble Bundle, and a week later I'm still playing and loving the game! My question is when is the best time to activate the Humble Bundle Key? Should I delay until lvl 18 (probably another day or so) so I get the full month of level 18 Guild drops? Should I delay the month membership until I'm in a position where I can push for 20wins in Arena? Obviously the most valuable thing is the extra membership option and I'm wondering if anyone would have any suggestions on getting the most out of it. It's also entirely possible I'm just over-thinking this whole situation... :-D Either way I'd love to hear feedback. Thanks in advance for your input!
I am also a new player, from my point of view the better is to activate the menbership as soon as you start so you can earn a bonus rare or better from every gold chest of the campagn, and then as soon as you finish it do as many quests as possible and try to have 3 mp victories a day.
You basically want to unlock as many gold+ chests as possible while your membership is active. @Xyuta is right, as activating the key right along will boost the loot from the loot you get from gold chests won after beating a module for the first time. This is especially important when doing the Treasure Hunts, as those give you a guaranteed epic upon the first completion, so the club reward will be a epic+ as well. Other things you can do to make the most out of your membership After completing the campaign, try and beat as many quests as possible, as those also reward you with a golden chest. Some are very hard, but the most of the No-party-death and Handicap-items-only are definitely doable. Hunt the loot fairy down twice a day Win as many MP/League matches as possible. I'm not suggesting you go for the epic chest necessarily, as that can be very time consuming. I'd suggest at least 3 wins (for 2 golden chests), but 6+ is obviously better. Also, something worth noting: the club membership only affects chests you win from SP/MP games. I.e. you don't take any club reward when opening chests at shops (including the ones you are given win from leagues).
Can I recommend refraining from referencing chests by color? Not all chests of the same color have the same guaranteed loot rarity, and not all chests that have an increased loot rarity are gold. That said, your advice is solid, essentially open as many higher guaranteed rarity chests as possible while having the membership.
Yes I'm aware of that. I actually think every chest guaranteeing at least a rare item should be correctly represented as a gold (resplendent) chest. While the reward track in the MP screen shows what minimum quality items from each chest are going to be, that's only if you mouse over them, so not immediately apparent. I found the "golden/purple chests are valuable, brown ones not so much" rule of thumb is a delightfully easy to read visual-language, especially to newer players. Ofc I'm not saying MP rewards should be brought back to the old system (the improved rewards are fine!), but I'd like the Reward Track be visually re-design to more clearly communicate the rewards progression. A change relatively as simple as: 1st reward = regular gold chest -> 1 guaranteed rare 3rd reward = ornate gold chest -> 2 guaranteed rares 6th reward = regular purple chest -> 1 guaranteed epic 11th reward =regular purple chest -> 1 guaranteed epic (+1 guaranteed rare) 20th reward = ornate purple chest -> 2 guaranteed epics Where by "Ornate" I quite literally mean adding some precious-looking features (precious metals inserts, valuable gems, etc) to the appearance of the chests themselves, not the "Ornate Chest" you can purchase at the chests shop xD. Additionally, in order to maintain the visual language consistent, the chest won by completing a quest would need be changed to an ornate gold chest too.
awesome guys1 thanks so much for the response! I'll make sure to get the most out of my remaining level ups.
MP games take 10-20 mins. With a 50% win rate you will open that chest every 20-40 mins. Low level SP maps like kobolds can be finished within 1 minute with 100% success. I don't know why everyone is comparing SP to MP chests.
Despite all of that, you soon reach to a point where you can't get anymore golden chests from campaign. Considering quests, roughly half of those are pretty challenging (you'll need to lvl up specific parties or have good items in order to tackle those), so depending on which quests are available to you, your precious club membership time can better be spent by playing MP. I would suggest doing the no-party death quests and handicap quests before spending any serious amount of time into MP. Even then, start with the lower level quests, as they are easier. If you reach a point where the quests start getting too hard, then stop focusing on quests, and try to break up your time between getting a few MP wins and attempting some more quests. Can't get too specific than that, as YMMV depending on how good you are at setting up your party in order to beat quests and/or win MP matches. Anyway, I'm fairly sure @Kronen will manage getting the most out of his membership
If you can do that with the armor added, you're doing better than I am. I can't always even get them all in range in 1 round since the FS nerfs. It's not everyone, but probably for the same reasons people did before the changes. The devs took a stab at equalizing rewards for effort expended, and I don't know how close they actually got. I suspect it favors MP a bit, but it's probably in the ballpark. There is always a percentage of people offended by the idea that someone else may get a little bit more than they do. As long as it's relatively close, it's not something I would consider worrying about. I do think the 1 hp quests deserve epic chests. The low level ones are pretty easy, but low level epics are pretty crappy, so it evens out.
