Level 11 scenario - magic user cast Perplexing Ray against burning skeletons - Skeletons discarded only run card that was visible -opponents moved next, skeletons moved with run - no run card in deck, no card discarded screen shot below shows the problem in the battle log
Only the default movement cards of the monsters (they get one of those per draw, same as with human players) are shown to the human player. Burning Skeletons have three move cards in their deck, as you can see here: http://wiki.cardhuntria.com/wiki/Burning_Skeleton There is no bug here, they just played from their deck a hidden run card they had drawn earlier. This works the same way as with the move cards you draw from your own deck, the move cards you get from your boots, for example. Those aren't shown to the opponent, either.
they didn't play a card though - only three cards where in the deck, run was visible(as I am assuming that all standard movement cards are *edit never mind, i see that it is only one at initial draw*), run was discarded after using perplexing ray, the skeletons then used run when they had no run card, nor did they discard any unrevealed card - and after playing a few other scenarios at Level 11 this seems to be a prevalent issues *edit prevalent issue being movement cards seem to be drawn at a higher percentage then attack cards in a predominately attack build - opponent monsters appear to move and move and move and move even after they have used up their run cards - i understand about the hidden card features and I'm fairly certain that it is not applying here
That's just randomness. Sometimes they draw more of the move cards they have in their decks at the beginning of the match, sometimes they draw less. Like you, they will always draw one default move card per round. Then they can have several hidden move cards depending on their deck. You can view the monster decks from the wiki to see how many of those each monster group has. As all of the monsters in a group can move when they play a move card, it can make it seem like they move really a lot. Just one default and one hidden move card creates four single Burning Skeleton moves in a two-skeleton group like in your picture. The monster decks are much smaller than human player decks. For example, the Burning Skeleton deck has only 21 non-handicap cards and three of them are Run cards so 3/21 = 14.3 % of their hidden deck are moves. When both Skeletons are alive, they draw four cards per round. First round, everyone draws one bonus card. See attached picture. That leads to an approximately 5 * 14.3 % = 72 % chance for them to draw at least one hidden move card in Round 1 (the exact math is more complicated but we don't need it here to see the general priciple). As is visible from these numbers, it's only to be expected that they draw a lot of moves during play, in a bigger ratio than might be thought possible at first glance. As to your screenshot, the Skeletons have two cards left so they have played three cards. As none of your characters have been damaged, the Skeletons haven't played any attacks. You made them discard the default, visible Run card (sixth one in my picture). If you compare the starting position of the rightmost Skeleton with their positions in your screenshot, you can see that it has moved seven spaces. This is only possible with three Runs. Amazingly, it just so happened that the Skeletons actually drew all three of the Runs in their deck and used them all to get where they are in your screenshot. This is the only possible explanation for the situation visible in it. Now, this would seem to support your claim of them drawing more move cards than expected. Unfortunately, one case of it happening does not prove anything. As it's a random draw anything can happen in a single case. To see whether there actually is a phenomenon of too many moves drawn, we'd have to collect data from many, many repeats. From previous experience of playing this game almost daily for over two years, I claim there is no such phenomenon. Your experiences are explained by the surprisingly high expected draw frequency of moves in moster decks calculated above and just random luck in you having seen a lot of moves played. I'm sure that as you play more, you will also see battles where the monsters move very little. It all balances out in the long run. But in a single battle, anything can and will happen. That's the nature of the game. On the other hand, if the monsters use all of their hidden move cards in the first round like in your screenshot, you can rely on them not having any left before they cycle through their whole deck. That means that in your battle it would've been Round 6 before they had even a chance of drawing any more hidden Runs even if both Skeletons were still alive by then and even later if you killed one before then. By the way, your screenshot is from a level 10 adventure, The Viscous Tombs, battle 3, Burnt Pudding.
