I stopped using X-Strike because people I kept ending up with matches where I'd used 2 minutes and my opponent had used 10+. With a 50% win rate that ends up taking too long to get 6 wins. So now I'm using lavaspam. It only loses to aggro warriors if they manage to kill you within a couple rounds, so I get the short matches I want. Very rarely a mage team will win the resistant hide lottery, but then I can ragequit early on. The priest spams heal + draw, and the wizards spam Volcano. They're humans to take advantage of 6x Leadership. It's kind of Legend/Epic heavy, so it's probably not easy to copy. I know there are a couple other volcano-spam builds running around, though. I have been waiting to get a second Mordecai's Staff Of Magma to try something like that. Not sure how I feel about humans vs. Dwarves. Leadership is nice, but technically is card disadvantage, and Toughness draws you cards too. Also it's not like the build cares if you step off the lava with a 2 or 3 move card. Do you feel like the build gives you enough Volcano as is, or would 3 or 4 Mordecai's Staff Of Magma be even better?
The Mighty Spark from Staff of Blazing Sparks is handy to go for a kill. Leadership actually offers a net 3-card advantage across your entire team, since there are a lot of trash cards (Slow, Rusty Armor, Little Zap, and often Flash of Agony).
Slightly different scenario, but I ran a human frenzy priest with leadership, and my warriors used Xander's Mail and Captain Cedric's Helms. The rest of the warrior build was tight. (Loch - pre-nerf, 2x Bejeweled, sticky slippers) Swapping 4 officer's harnesses for 4 attacks/blocks worked well, and happened fairly often. Not much of a card disadvantage.
Leadership does give you a better "nova". Often a fight will come down to one critical round. The harness + leadership combo lets you have a big card advantage when you need it most. For example, when you finally get your warrior next to the opposing wizard and the wizard is out of cards. You can stall until you've built reserves with harnesses and leadership, then blitz. So, while technically not a card advantage, it does let you borrow cards from other, less important, turns which can be huge.
