So, I've been playing for a while. Got plenty of loot, rares, epics, legendary, ect. I've played through the singleplayer adventures countless times. Now, I want to grab the treasure hunts, not for the gear, but just for new adventures to play through. I'm just not sure whether it'd be better if I bought the Basic Edition and AOTA expansion instead. but that'd be $40. If I just buy enough pizza to get the Treasure Hunts, then that's $20. I don't care much about the figurines, though they're a nice extra. Is 2 months of Membership really worth that extra $20?
Membership is very convenient to have. Even if you don't need the extra slot items, you'll get them and that's free gold. Also, from time to time you will get something good there. If not playing very much, then extra gold comes handy. And if you are playing a lot then it will give you something good quite often. A trick worth knowing is to have 300+ spare pizza when not a club member. If you happen to get a good drop, you can then activate your membership and claim the extra item. I activated my current membership just to claim an epic treasure
Remember you also get to support a game you're enjoying this much! But otherwise, yeah, I think the membership is worth it for anybody who's serious about CH at all and sinks some time into it daily. Remember that the extra item you get is going to be at least of the same rarity of the guaranteed drop for the chest you're opening. I.e. if you open a transcendent (golden) chest, then the extra item is going to be at least a rare. Similarly, it's going to be at least epic if you open a purple chest. This is also why coupling the treasure hunts with a membership is highly advisable: you basically get 2 guaranteed items from first completing each (the first one being the guaranteed reward, the second a random epic item). In short, the club membership gives a serious boost to the rate at which you're going to acquire rare+ items. If you play CH daily then it indeed is seriously worth it.
Membership is the wise way to spend money in this game. I wish I had it when I did the campaign for the first time, because it's extremely profitable at that time, when you have a gold chest waiting at the end of every module, not to mention all the extra quests. You are duplicating the rares you obtain and also doubling the chances to get some epic or legendary item. Once you beat the campaign and the quests, it's not as good as before but it helps, especially to get some extra gold and to have better chances with the daily loot fairy. Also, it is very useful to have if you haven't done the treasure hunts and plan to, because you are getting 2 epics instead of one. The guaranteed epic is usually a crappy one, but you can get one good extra epic (or legendary) with the membership.
Completely agree with Jaques' analysis. Point of information: the "gold" chest received for the first completion of each adventure is actually no different from the brown chest received upon re-completing the adventure. The quest chests are truly better chests, but not quite the same as MP gold chests or shop gold chests.
I would buy the basic edition bundle first, then the AotA treasure hunts separately using the 100 pizza you get from the basic edition. I think the AotA treasure hunts are 150 or 200 pizza? So you'll need a little extra. You should be able to complete all the treasure hunts in one month, I think.
I agree with the above posters that it's very valuable to newer players. I'd like to add that it becomes less valuable the more complete your collection gets (unless your goal is to actually complete your collection). I have played long enough that I have way more gold than I know what to do with (11000 and another 10000 in unsold treasure). There are very few items in the game I really want for making more competitive builds (basically just certain legends), so I'm fine passing on repeat items or cruddy legends. So my strategy is to wait to renew until something I really need shows up in the club slot. If the RNG gods want my pizza, they'll need to put something particularly nice in the club slot...
Whether membership is worth buying depends entirely upon whether it's worth it to you. I bought it to support the game, primarily because I know the devs have to provide a server, bandwidth, and continuing effort just to keep it running. It will have to go away if they lose money on it. It will be too much to spend for some players, and since it's free-to-play, that's okay too. I think having non-spending players do well in the game is a very good tribute to BM, even if it doesn't directly bring in money.
