Interesting situation came up in a game, wondering what thoughts are on this. Youtube vid to supplement explanation: Both players have 5 victory points currently. I have a 2 HP Warrior standing on a victory location, and also a Hot Spot. Blackfish has a 1 HP Priest standing on a victory location, but also on Acid Terrain. In addition, has a mage standing on a non-victory tile. My turn was first, and the Acid Jet(sorry it's not Acid Spray like I thought) was placed down before the Hot Spot for the sake of completeness. I do note that the http://www.cardhunter.com/how-to-play-card-hunter/ page mentions: So, the game ending condition checked immediately, rather than waiting for this entire step to resolve. Should this be a tie? Or whoever happens to be toward the bottom of the screen lose in this scenario
I don't believe there are any ties in Card Hunter at the moment. By the rules whoever happens to be toward the bottom of the screen will lose in this situation; the game ending condition is presumably checked after every change in game state. Whether it should work this way is another question. Whoever is nearer the bottom of the screen losing feels too arbitrary to me, unless there is also some advantage to being nearer the bottom of the screen that I have forgotten about.
i think that your position on the board should not make the difference between win and loss in this situation, it just doesn't feel right, nor is it balanced, as one player is bound to spawn closer to the bottom. either the order in which the terrain attachment resolves needs a change, or we might be needing several tie breakers (or both). the order in which they resolve is hard to change, you could go by what was cast first. but what would happen if both players die to the same acid spray? would the player that cast the spray win the game, or the player that passed first? So tiebreakers is the better option in my opinion. I can think of the following: the maximum amount of victory points needed is increased by one. (not good when both players lost their last party member in the process) the player with the most remaining total hitpoints wins (also not good when both players lose their last characters) the person that has dealt the most damage during the entire game wins if the damage is the same, other conditions like cards drawn, healed HP's, etc
