Hey guys, I was in a match yesterday where my priest had an Impenetrable Nimbus card active and had a Lifesave Block in hand. The AI controlled character then hit me for more damage than I had life points. Rather than nullifying the attack due to the Nimbus, the Lifesave Block card was triggered instead and coincidentally, I drew another Lifesave Block. The same thing happened with the next attack... Nimbus still active, but Lifesave Block was triggered. Is this a bug or by design? I would think that the Nimbus card should prevent the attack from triggering any block card. Thanks, Basel
Then how do you tell if you want to block an ability or not? Do you not try to block when you have nimbus if someone casts Whilrwind Enemies or Elvish Insight? An easy answer would be to only don't block things that deal damage... What If I WANT to block that freeze so I'm not encumbered etc. Blocks and armor come before attachments because if you have them in hand, it's assumed that you will want to use them.
See also: Purge. You definitely want to block that if you have a Nimbus on you. In short, it's intended.
While you both have valid points, Lifesaving Block would not block Whirlwind Enemies, Elvish Insight, or Purge. It only works on cards that would kill you, and none of those even deal damage.
True - we're talking about blocking behavior in general. I don't know if it's desirable to start making a distinction between blocking effects and blocking damage or for even more specific interactions. Fishing for blocks is a tactical choice. I've done it to people inside a nimbus and i've had it done to me - it's one of the things that keeps Nimbus from being too powerful.
