I was playing pen n paper DND with a few frineds and The Barb was Charging ahead being stir crazy from the lybrinth of unending and my wizard was struggling to keep up also are cleric was with me. I cast an orb of light to see cause the barb had the tourch the ranger who bring up the rear had low light vision he was watching our six. When all off sudden the DM says everyone halts in their steps and rolls for a listen roll except the barb. Well when when the cleric had a success the Dmsays you heared a loud thud and thin a crackle. Then he makes us roll again dex this time. The cleric and I lose this one the ranger success He informs us that aflame wall is roaring down the hall and engulfs us two and severly damages the Ranger. After limping down the hall the ranger discovers the chard remains of the barb who trip and fell into what he guess to be some form of gun powder residue. We had been traped in that lybrinth for three days. A few yards beyond the carnage around two corners was the darn exit what luck.
One moment that springs into mind was in a newbie D&D adventure. Our group had found the enemy infested area with the help of a mad hermit travelling with a pet cougar. The first guys had entered the cave and encountered goblins there. The hermit heard there were enemies and tried to charge in but since our cleric was sure the hermit would just get himself killed, he tried to restrain the man. The cougar naturally didn't like someone doing that to his master and attacked. So what should have been a straightforward fight against weak goblins ended up in a chaotic mess where part of of the party were inside fighting the goblins and the rest were outside trying to restrain the hermit while the druid tried to calm the cougar down. And since the whole fight would have otherwise brought in more enemies from the nearby caves, someone had quickly thrown a Silence spell over the hermit, meaning that the whole bloody mess outside was taking place in complete silence!
I only played one game of D&D in my life so far, but I would like to play more someday. I was a elf warrior named Loki. and there was also a Barbarian and a Claric on the team. After getting the campain exposition, we went down into the sewers to look for some missing women. At first, we came across a small goblin encampment, but I would a wheel on the wall, turned it, and washed half of the goblins away. we were able to beat then quickly then. After that, we entered a large hallway, and to our left was a door. Inside of that was a huge room, half cut off by a magic barrier. Behind it was the big bad guy, and all the missing women knocked out. after bantering with the bad guy, our claric desides that he wanted to join him. I tried to talk some sence into him, but then the barbarian turns and kills him! I was so ticked off at him, I thought to myself along the lines of: "you idiot! you killed our healer! I'd kill you right now, but I can't fight doku alone!" After that, we took a break for lunch. when that ended, we went back down the hall and found a button that lead to a secret room. In that room, we found the way to turn off the magic barrier. with that done, we went back into the bad guy's room to fight him, and after many turns, we sucseeded. The DM gave us copies of that little campainm, and I still have it in my collection.
