    (I dunno, I needed a title.)

There was "yet another Card Hunter appreciation thread" a short while ago, but I realized there haven't been enough to merit the "yet another" part. I also can't find it anymore. (Was it from a spammer or something?) So, here's another positive thread for you. I ask: what's the most recent "fun" you had in Card Hunter?

I've been enjoying collecting shiny things like a magpie. I'm well on my way to a solid wall of Amethyst Shards. Yeah, yeah, they're Common; but they're SHINY!

Finally unlocking some Dissolve Armor from various arcane items and giving the armored Trogg Gougers what for with my dwarf wizard. After all the frustration of multiple attempts at hitting the Trogg Gougers head on like riding a bicycle into a brick wall, I relished every sizzle as their armor cards fell away and my dwarf warrior waded into their midst to chop them down.

By the way. When I said this:

Does anyone remember when Jon spoke of editing loot tables so that, say, Treasure items were more likely to appear in certain levels? I've put on some anti-Kobold gear and plowed my way through the first battle (and then quit) of those level 6 adventures off and on for a couple days. With the above, plus various Uncommon and Rare pieces not shown, I have quite a nice pile of shiny things.

I've been attempting to complete as may Quests with party members who are all level 1. The Ruby Demon Portal has posed a road bock (I don't think it likely to complete the 1 hp party members challenge there without crazy luck). Although, this has been interesting to see how consistency (via a smaller deck) influences how effective they are.

I've also been flitting around with playing a party member down. I've also been subbing in level 1 party members on CardStock II Secret Preview, and Lair of the Yellow Dragon in order to level them fast. This really helps to train you for the unexpected, like those pesky Whirlwinds.

I'm having a lot of fun with a new all-dwarven party: High hit points, armor, healing, and then the wizard has lots of Firestorm cards. Why bother running on your short legs if you can burn everybody while staying in cover? Volcano is fun too.

Way to go in this sort of thread to tell people about the dark side of Card Hunter: People who think this is a game about crushing other players in PvP. I was talking of a PvE group for the campaign, obviously. You can put your ePeen back into your pants.

I was mearly offering a different perspective. Elf is the master race after all.

Besides I've no reason to have. "EPeen" as you put it. You would think having played the gameas long as I have I could get past 1000 rating or not get defeated by NPCs. Melvn kicks my butt. Blast him.

    Edited for clarity

Ahem. Before this thread gets derailed by an argument over what appears to me to be a misunderstanding of a tongue-in-cheek comment... back to the praise for Card Hunter!

I'm loving the re-playability that the quests add to the campaign (whether that's what they should be there for is another question, I know). They really make me think a lot more about my tactics and which cards I need to take into a particular battle. They also mean that I've tried all combinations of races and classes. The fact that you only get one attempt before you have to pay or restart ramps up the pressure as well, although this does mean that you're more prone to suffering from bad luck with your starting hands.

I'm still blown away by the length and depth of the campaign when the game simultaneously appears to have great appeal to multiplayer aficionados as well. And then there's the board editor, which could massively extend the longevity of both the single-player and multiplayer modes thanks to fan-created content. Getting that up and running was a really smart move in my opinion.

Well, I recently enjoyed the board editor, which I must say is a blast. Being able to make stuff is fun anyway, and it's satisfying to try ideas that were floating in my head for months (like these).

But today, specifically, I'm enjoying "looting." Kinda like I was at the start of this thread. There seems to be this concept of "grinding" in gaming, but I must say there a difference between "grinding" and "playing for more loot because everything about the experience is fun." So I have more loot and I had fun. A good sign for a game trying to hold my interest.

Granted, as this is my 2,000th post, it's probably safe to say the game holds my interest.

    Lemme be more specific.

I've realized that most adventures have SOMETHING loot-related to make you want to replay them. The high-level ones have the default reasons: you can play for specific items you know appear near that level, and/or play for items with certain power token combinations. The low-level ones, though, really shine.

The daily Ommlet: enjoying your level-1 Ommlet means you shrug and get more Pickled Herring. And hey, maybe the other level 1 adventures will get you a rarer one out of your next 6 items. For shrugging.

Level 2: in Caverns of the Troglodytes . . . you shrug and get 6 items. I don't know how I didn't notice this before. And you still have the chance to get the lovely level 1 Legendary Orc Painting here, so what's not to enjoy? The Wizard's Workshop is the same, just a little longer, if you want to have a longer "shrug" this morning.

Level 3: more Troglodytes, and then a longer Highway Robbery. Exactly the same.

Level 4: Ruby Demon Portal, if I'm not mistaken, is your first chance for level 6 items like Blazing Shortsword. This is very important, being near the top of the zero-power-token pile. And squishy Imps are so easy to kill once you know what you're doing. Dungeon of the Lizard Priest . . . optional.

Level 5: you now have permission to bring one power token when adventuring. (High-level characters coming back to get loot.) Let the violence begin.

Level 6: HECK YES. Adventures biased to give you Treasure? Gold mine. Don't even bother finishing the module: just replay the first map and enjoy your solid wall of Amethyst Shards (see above).

Level 7: here we are right at the edge of the zero-power-token pile, even getting the precious one-power-token Weapons. And your characters have power tokens to spare as you clobber the enemies. It's like a sweet spot, only for killing Troglodytes.

So yes, I really enjoy looting in this game. Save an "Ommlet" build, and maybe a "level 6 and 7 build," and get quick money and quick items (that you will use, even at the highest levels) each day. I love it.

  20. Today, i was doing Yellowfang, and on the third match, a sudden chain of events robbed me of my wizard and warrior. The result? Me thanking all of the deities that this bridge exists and having to kill this ogre with my Priest and nothing but an Unholy Wellspring, an Unholy Energy and 3 Reaching Swing

So yeah, I'll call that fun

Also, regarding the whole looting, i was repeating Lair of the Trog Wizard and got my hands on a shiny new Relic Of St. Darqar, that's some incredibly exciting turn of events right there
