a few times already. there were ocassions where Gary could have finish me off but didnt. Instead, he passed and allowed me to live another turn and eventually win. it is strange knowing that i shouldn't have won but i did. should i replay the scenario and get a straight honest win (with the same gear) or should i just treat Gary as Melvin does, that he is subpar and move on? everyone hates lossing but i think winning because the AI lets me is worse...
Yep, you're not the first to note this. The AI does make passes randomly. It's a feature meant to make the AI a little less predictable as otherwise it would be even easier to trap the foes in lava etc. And yes, there should probably be exceptions for the cases when the AI is one attack away from winning etc.
