Feedback on super-guilds

    Hi all,

First off I am not interested in passing judgement, but want to point out the disparity between the current top 4 guilds, or what I call super-guilds, (http://cardhuntermeta.farbs.org/season.php ) and the rest of the guilds.

Taken from the above site; let's take a closer look at each of these super-guilds and their recent placings.

99 Lenbears Walking on Fire (99lBF for short).

Of their past 7 months of play, they have only failed to get a top 3 finish twice, where they placed 5th and 7th.

    Walking Carpets. (WC)

For the past 12 months, a top 3 placing every month but for 3, where they placed 4th 5th and 6th. And endless list of talent: Soularmardyl, Scarponi, Dreamzzit, Fry-The-Guy, Merdis, Gcar, Gnizla, Tiwx, Arnie, Luck Goblin, Besides Tiwx, all these individuals have a win rate 60% or more.

    Power of Fires (PoF)

The crown jewel of super-guilds. For the past two years, 1st or 2nd every month without fail, besides the last two months.

    Immortals of Disorder (IoD)

To tie it off nicely we have a newly formed guild who have remained top of the leaderboard the whole month, no small feat. They consist of the talented individuals from 180 Heavenly Nimbus and also play a large volume of games, which makes them extremely competitive and I'm sure a top 4 guild for many months.

So if you imagine, the top 4 football teams in the world currently: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and P.S.G; imagine you placed them in a huge league where the best of the remaining teams was say, Southampton, and the rest were mostly amateurs. How would you feel about this league?

The other thing I'd like to point out is that, with the current prize structure, te 5th placed guild gets one 5$ pizza voucher. Given that the super-guilds are a pretty sure bet to hoover up the top 4 prizes every month, that leaves all the remaining guilds to fight it out for 5th, or just one 5$ pizza voucher.

So, at this stage I'm not interested in a debate,or finger-pointing I understand that those who've joined these super-guilds want to be rewarded for their skill, and dedication. I am just making observations with a football comparison throw-in.

I'd like to hear from those, in all guilds how they feel about this current situation as it stands. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm very happy to hear suggestions about how to improve the guild metagame for the entire ecosystem of players.

Also: Did you know that some of the top tier guilds have training & development groups?

I'm sure my guild could place better every month if I did things like restrict what could be used in relation to builds, had win percentage limits, forced people to play a certain number of games, making people join a training guild first, etc., etc., etc.

However, to be honest....it's not worth being that kind of jerk for something around $30 of in-game currency every month. I want everyone to play their best, and if we do win pizza, that's great. But I'm not ever going to make it a priority.

If for some reason, it became absolutely necessary for my guild to have that pizza (for whatever legitimate reason it might be), I'd rather just buy it for them than to force them to do something they did not want to do.

It's a game, for as much as I mope and lament about my play. Have fun.

If someone ever wants to say I'm not fit to be a guild leader because of those thoughts, well....I'll try to introduce them to 42 Arcane Bursts the next time I see them.

That being said, The Cult of Ironwood is always looking for new members to join their ranks. Talk to The Trio of Temptation if you have interest.

    On an unrelated note,
    99K is recruiting
    that
    .

I find the current state of affairs pretty random, its basically Tuenichtgut coming back after half a year, playing more PvP then ever and joining the wrong guild on a whim.
IOD is a nice demo how easily seemingly rigid power structures can be overthrown if you focus on what sadly matters, getting exclusively players toghether that can stand their ground and are amassing matches. I find it upsetting that i as guild leader who wants to contest the top positions with my team cant really groom new guildmates since there is not enough leeway for failure. That member is instantly pressured as weak link, losing more points with a loss the better his guildmates do. That leaves recruiting seasoned players, but further recruiting of 'talents' also is linked to how attractice/competitive the guild appears to those high end players. I would love to see the whole elo range of the PvP playerbase being more saturated with guild affiliated players, but that has to be undertaken separately from a guild that aims to compete.

Beside that, i am of course concerned that the rewards tend to exclusively go to those that are already well endowed.

Fixed. I think the current system is fine in terms of competitiveness. It's very comparable to the difficulty of rising in the ranks for Starcraft II or Hearthstone, moreso because it's a team effort to reach high ranks on the guild board. That said, I do think that some rewards should go to some of the guilds who play a lot and have a large number of wins, as opposed to a win/loss ratio. Maybe reserving a few codes for those teams would reward larger guilds and encourage larger guild gameplay?

I am actually okay with the state of competitiveness as well, as long as the points are gained earnestly. I feel a bit canceled out by the lack of new blood.
Foremost i would wish for more functionality to give guilds identity beyond wacky names and being better/worse then the next.

    Hmm.

    HMMM....

I like the idea of giving guilds something else to do / strive for.

Flaxative's SRC homepage mentions secondary guild identity/functionality/goal stuff, such as rivals, allies, etc. Also, there's been plenty of talk here and yonder about raids (whatever that would look like in CH's context).

It seems like the ideas have always been there -- just not yet fleshed out and implemented. $:^ ]

Thanks for those who have shared their views on the current super-guiild situation.

200+ views, it would be nice to hear from others too, this your chance to help improve the CH experience, for yourself and others!

Robauke - please don't use thsi thread to promote your guild recruitment.

I like the idea but not on a healthy level. CH can be pretty addictive, and I cant help but feel this encourages an even more addictive lifestyle.

Was thinking myself of one option is yearly awards, especially for those who weren't fortunate to be ina super-guild. You could give out a 5$ pizza voucher toi the following categories:

Mega Martyr. people like ct5 who contribute to the game the last year both for guild and with video / forum contribution, while getting no top-5 placings for his guild.

Best bridesmaid. people like Krystalis1 who consistently contributes for Beerbarians crew but keeps getting 6th.

    Incomparable Improver. {Most improved}.

Each of these could be voted for in-game using a simple system at the end of the year.
First, Each guild who did not place in the top 5 this year but placed in the top 10 at least twice {i.e, finished 5-10 at least twice} can nominate one member for voting in each of the categories.
Next, two members from those same guilds who had positive contributions may then vote anonymously on someone from each category, but may NOT vote for members of their own guild. {Note: the numbers are not exact, but the principle remains the same}.
Finally, in the event of a tie, the two members must duke it out in a game of Quick Draw on a random map!

One thing I like about this yearly awards is that it encourages more interaction, and also for players like myself who aren't in a super-guild, gives me something more to strive for.

To some degree I've done this already. I rebalanced the season points a few months ago to shift the balance further toward number of wins - number of losses rather than who plays best at inter-guild games. This was in response to a couple of solo guilds performing alarmingly well. So far this seems to have shaken out well.

Forgot to add, if I didn't make it clear in my first post, I totally agree {and am well endowed}. I must admit I have a strong dislike for the rich get richer mentality, there's already enough of it in the world with said football teams, fast food giants, and corporations, pushing out the little guy.

So thanks Farbs {and team} for being so keen on improving and balancing CH!

    Another idea...

    Soon...

Some of us not are well endowed, i tend to play a lot to compensate my lack of items and get a few of them. Im un a súper guild IoD. Its a hard game i join the guild forma its benéfical for both sides and get some (good) friends. Thanks to that my game has improved a lot. Still learning and make many mistakes.

The most dificultades parte is be a new player, almost no guild take new players dont kwon what guilds could take them, new players and thats a bad thing, a mecanism to reward guilds to take new players could be good for the game.

Something like a raid, way besides the the current system, were are more important the numbers than others.

Maybe an "guild Adventure" that exhaust every day and give points for completión un coop mode. Thus each player can access just one time a day. So the big guilds could be rewarded for having more members and dont get punished for having new players. Maybe a lesser reward compared to the current system.

New players can gain be "a part of something" and dont feels lonely in mp. That could make new players stick on the game longer time.

The problems could be people with múltiples accounts.

Farbs assured me he was looking into it.

The new or low elo player dilemma is that they usually cant make up for the time they get paired with the high elo players, since those are more likely in guilds then the opponents they face in their elo tier. If the elo difference was somehow taken into consideration to take the edge off from those matches, the lower elo guildies had a chance to contribute by doing okay in their elo range.

Richer get richer... I don't think anyone in my guild is the best stocked in terms of inventory compared to older players. Also, it's not like 75 pizza is going to get anyone the items they want xD
