Great idea, horribly butchered. This game is nothing but grind and luck. All you do is grind grind grind grind grind grind grind and grind some more to get the gear you actually want. Then, when you finally have acceptable gear to be competitive, the game comes down to luck rather than skill. There's hardly any strategy compared to how much luck of the draw/dice rolls there is. Sorry, but no. I'm not going to sit here and mindlessly grind all day just to be beaten by someone who got lucky.
hah! Thanks for this piece of carefully worded and insightful feedback. I can tell from the detail that you've mastered the game to the point where all tactics and strategies seem trivial to you. But I'm really left wondering, what part of the game do you think is a "great idea"? Obviously it can't be related to the deck of cards or the roll of the dice, because those are the things you're complaining about. So what is it?
The OP could try chess: No grinding, both players start with exactly the same gear. No luck involved, everything is skill and strategy. /back to hunting cards
I'd say there's three different things you need to be successful in Multiplayer: farming, deck building, and executing. Finding the right card doesn't do much if you don't organize it in a party that complements it, and having a solid deck means nothing if you don't use it well in an actual match. Claiming that your enemy only won because he had better cards ignores 2/3's of what goes into the match.
A draft mode with random gear provided to choose from would probably solve OP's problem. Always a fun mode in any card game Then maybe luck would still be a problem for OP, but that's unavoidable in a card game.
People have been suggesting drafts for at least as long as I've been playing the game (near launch), and as far as I know it's something the devs think would be cool to have (though no official word on whether they're planning on working on it). We need to keep clamoring!
