Greetings! I've been asked to post some of my farming teams, so this is the start. Please feel free to post yours here as well if you wish.

My farm teams are usually in a state of flux, but here are a couple that have remained fairly stable.

    -----------------------------------------------------
Generic Low Level Tokenless vs. Spearmen (Range 2 & 2+)

If the enemy is going to close to range 2, be prepared to hit them at range 2. Due in part to the animations used, this is sometimes faster than firestorm in low level dungeons with 2 to 3 opponents.

    L12 Tvericus 1 - Graveyard - Firestorm

I only farm the first level, then jump away and back. Repeat as necessary/bearable.

In this dungeon I just move to the back of the niche, lay lava in front to repel the zombies, and burn everything until they're dead. The idea is to avoid all melee contact, and it usually works very well. The dwarf wizard normally gets the center spot so he can use Force Cone to bounce out any zombies who arrive too early.

The priest has some melee attacks in case the zombies arrive before the lava or Force Cones. Otherwise, she does healing and nimbus.

    Shielding Token

The dwarf wizard deals the firestorms.

The human wizard primarily works area denial. Lava ideally, and spikes if needed. Also some damage. I use a human to card cycle (Leadership) the dwarves. I hope Martin K will like the Staff Of The Misanthrope use, because I know he owns some. I have 5 of the suckers and rarely use any, but this map is open enough that they work well. I have 2 Staffs Of The Inferno, but I prefer to avoid Combustible on Firestorm teams if possible. I use one when I run two 4th level dwarf firestormers, and the Combustible one often burns to death.

I use basically the same setup in several of the 'n-teen' adventures with the human switching between frost, smoke, and lava. Sometimes both wizards switch to Runestones.

My other Firestorm team is much like Jarmo's Salt Shaker, but my priest is weaker. :p

Just a note about the Firestorm animations: if you click anywhere at the right times you can speed up the flame hit animations a great deal (or just keep clicking madly). I suspect you already knew this but this seems like a good place to mention it for others' benefit.

    Sir Veza Farming Deity

    I didn't know that. Thanks!
I leveled up another dwarf wizard, so the Tvericus team now has 3 wizards. 2 carry Staff Of The Misanthrope.
I've been farming L12 hoping for another Shielding Token. (I mean, it's only a rare, right? It should be possible in a couple thousand drops.) I've found 3 legendaries, 6 epics, and lots of rares (including 3 Black Tokens), but no Shielding Token. It's as if the game knows what I'm looking for and says, "No." I think Randimar is also in on it, and may actually be the ringleader. ;)

  4. Jarmo

    Jarmo Snow Griffin

Yeah, I know the feeling. It took quite a lot of tries on the level 13 The Jewel of Alet Zhav for me to get one Shielding Token and I haven't gotten one as a drop since (one was found in a shop). I farmed the first battle with a 1+1+1 team, Firestorm and Savage Curse was the basic idea. A slow way to go about it but I was new to farming then.

  5. Martin K

    Martin K Goblin Champion

Interesting. I'll try some of these.

Any specific reason for the Greenspark Staff? I prefer Sorcerery Staff for my tokenless blasting needs. The Brain Burn speeds up the deck, and the little bit of damage isn't a huge deal if you're speedblasting the opposition.

  6. Excedrin

    Excedrin Kobold

How long do most of the levels that you farm with fs take? I can clear the cardstock 2 level 1 in about 3 minutes (sometimes 2, sometimes 4), and but that level with the Trogs usually takes longer.

  7. Sir Veza

    Sir Veza Farming Deity

Mostly bad luck with brain burn and Unstable Bolts popping on me too often when I had to move to get a shot. I settled on Greenspark because the two 5 point attacks negate Weak Block and all the sparks are hard-to-block. I'll probably give the Sorcerery Staff another try to see if my luck has changed, because the damage is a bit better.

  8. Sir Veza

    Sir Veza Farming Deity

I shoot for a minute or less each. Bad draws will make it take longer, and the levels above 13 often take longer.

  9. jday

    jday Mushroom Warrior

Would you make 2 of this warrior instead of the priest if you had 6 blazing shortswords? I am considering that now. Also note I don't have any of the good tokenless vampiric items besides hand of melvelous.

  10. Sir Veza

    Sir Veza Farming Deity

I do have 6 blazing shortswords, and on some levels I like to use them in a War/War/Prst build. (Particularly those levels where the monsters have Reflect Missile.) I haven't tried War/War/Wiz yet, but I will now that you've mentioned it. If you come up with a good farming build, please post it. :)
I got some really good tokenless divine weapons early on, so I quickly got used to melee priests and still run them a lot. Soon after I started farming I got loaded up with some great Firestorm items, so I went with them. Just make the best of whatever you have to get what you're missing.

  11. Cool. The 8 battles in Tvericus and the Yellow Dragon have been my favorites to farm lately with ye olde control/fire dwarf wizards.

For Tvericus, this is a very cheesy L14 build that basically just piles on pretty much every Firestorm item I own (including three legendary staffs as with Sir Veza's build), solely for the sake of more of that card, with no regard whatsoever to subtlety, strategy, or fairness to those poor hapless zombies/skeletons. Flash of Pain and Volcano add to the indiscriminate damage. It accepts that melee might occasionally happen, given that its bringers will be dead anyway by the beginning of the next round.

Great build! I'm a bit jealous because I'm still looking for my first Wym's Lavastaff.

  13. It's my only dual-legendary item to date (one of them thanks to best Saturday ever at Randimar's), and I'll be darned if I'm not going to exploit it within an inch of its life/their death. Then again, you've got two Staff Of The Misanthrope, which add a lot as well to this sort of silliness.

If I can just finally get that Mordecai's Staff Of Magma that I've wanted for months for my L19 build along these lines, I'll be truly insufferable.

I thought I'd share my setup for farming the first map of Cliffs of the Wyverns for possible level 14-18 loot. I don't have as many nice Firestorm items as you, Sir Veza, but this setup works well nonetheless.

I use this build to play through L2, L3, L4, and L5 (and sometimes L6, or higher) most days that I let myself grind. Takes about 30 minutes to clear 2-5. Most of the time is spent waiting (e.g. for the module to load, or my inventory to load at the loot screen).

    Step 1: Firestorm
    Step 2: Firestorm
    Step 3: Big Zap judiciously
Step 4: Win with 1 man standing, in record time

On these levels, the monsters have the same HP as you or sometimes less, excluding "boss" enemies. If enemies have armor, use SPR. If enemies don't have armor, obliterate everything with flame. Don't worry about killing one or two of your own guys. Only two maps between levels 2 and 5 have victory squares, and of those only Ruby Demon Portal Map #4 is at all risky with this build.

    You're overthinking this. :p

I farm 2-6 via pure firespam, only paying attention when everybody draws Combustible + Vulnerable and no armor. It takes ~30 minutes while perusing teh internetz. (I do skip Wizard's Workshop and Rescue from Shieldhaven because the enemies have armor. Also, the third goblin scenario takes a little bit of calculation, but not much.)

Big Zap is faster than Firestorm in a lot of situations. Using both has been quicker (and more fun) for me than pure firestorm. I did speed comparisons :)
    Of course, YMMV

But can you read webcomics at the same time?!? Friends don't let friends read webcomics while casting targeted spells. >_>

Well, with Randimar having absolutely nothing I can use in multiplayer this week, I decided to do some hardcore farming. In my quest to obtain another Staff Of Winter or two, I came up with this firestorm team for Citrine Demon Portal, the first map of which dropped my first Staff of Winter. I found it nearly impossible to get these guys with a Volcano, so I removed it in favor of some of my other Firestorm items. This uses one dedicated healing priest, one for card draw / healing, and of course a FS wiz. The Raging Battler is used for another copy of reliable mail, and the 2x Blind Rage is harmless with so few attack cards in the deck. I clear the first 3 levels of the portal and then restart. Many items here can be switched for others, but this should give you a general idea of a reliable build for this adventure. Don't forget you can hit your own armored up guys with Demonic Miasma when you need to move out of acid, for example.

    Tactics Notes-

All Maps- You may have to attack your own wizard to trigger toughness if she has resistant hide in addition.

Map 1- If you hide behind the blocked terrain correctly, the AI will just pass.

Map 2- If you send your most heavily protected/armored character forward, it will keep the demons back and keep them from targetting your wizard (which can hurt if she is Combustible). This forward guard makes a good target for Martyr Blessing

Map 3- The acid fiend is your top kill priority. He can use 2 acid moves per round including acid blast, acid jet, and acid pool. He also has the paralyzing bolt that discards your move cards and moves you 1 space in any direction. I like to use Bless and/or Cleansing Ray after he has played his second acid card for the turn. Try to avoid line of sight with the frost sprites so you don't get encumbered on top of acid terrain.

    Here's my setup:
Edited 3/20/2014 @ 2:05 A.M Central Standard Time: I changed the build around to remove Combustible since it would often get my wizard killed on map 2. The terrain heal/draw effects came out too, since they would often get replaced with acid terrain on the 3rd map. No more Martyr Blessing either since it gets cycled off by burn effects easily on map 2 and doesn't come on the weapons with Inspiration. Half the time, armor prevents the burn damage that would draw you cards from it anyway. I maximized my healing with the items available and maximized my draw potential with Inspiration since it can't be denied except by the lightning attacks that prevent you from playing cards. Not much else has changed except for the addition of Dwarven Battle Cry to make up for the trait loss on the wizard.

I need some advice on my team. I'm using it to complete level 1-6 modules, so I can't use tokens or level 4 chars (I'm fairy hunting and analyzing final chests). And it's usually pretty okay, but today I nearly struck out on the third map of Defense of Woodhome, so I'm looking for improvements.
