Enemy Group Heal Countered by Counterspell

Discussion in 'Bugs' started by beeperbeeperfaxmachine, Dec 2, 2013.

  1. Good evening all,

Never have posted before, but was just playing a multiplayer match and my opponent played a group heal card. Heal 3 to all characters in a certain amount of spaces. Ally or enemy. I'm sure you guys know the specific card I'm referring to. The counterspell in my hand automatically activated and countered the spell healing me. In my opinion, that is a bug, the card shouldn't be activated by that. Agreed? Thanks for your time!

I guess you are talking about Healing Pulse.

This is a specific instance of the general rule that blocks always trigger from enemy cards that target you, regardless of their effect.

We added the "unblockable" keyword to some specific cards to stop this. We perhaps should do this for Healing Pulse too.

But if you made healing unblockable, then what would you do for Misguided Heal? I kill enemies with that healing spell, you know.

And then there's the rest of the "flushing enemy Blocks" strategy that people apply, e.g., using Minor Heal on an enemy on purpose to test whether it has Block cards. Some people feel this card is junk, but the very fact that healing triggers Blocks makes it more valuable.

Unless you're not so much talking about healing but "pulsing," and want to argue that non-targeted cards are somehow special and deserve to be unblockable. I think you'd have a hard time arguing that.

How about all assist cards that aren't hybrid are automatically unblockable? With or without a keyword? A lot of people enjoy the strategic depth of using heals to flush blocks (myself included), but it's actually nonintuitive for a lot of players, especially more casual ones. We've seen a lot of complaints about this on the forums in the last week or two and I'm starting to think it might just be bad that assists can trigger blocks.

I always loved this side effect, and used Healing Pulse to get rid of enemy block cards in multiplayer.
