I cast "Inspiring Presence," an all-white card that heals and gives a free card to any friend or foe within 3 squares. The one enemy within 3 squares triggers a green block card called "Duck." He fails the roll... but why is a block card triggering on an all-white card? Let alone one that would help him? I had assumed Block cards only triggered on attack cards. Screen capture below. Don't look closely at it if you don't want to know what "Duck" does... man, what a game-changing card that could be!
Duck is a "Block any": it triggers when a card played by an opponent targets you, so even a White one.
The rule is "blocks don't trigger against cards from allies"; it has nothing to do with whether those cards are helpful or harmful. Don't forget that by control-clicking you can cast beneficial cards on enemies, and harmful ones on allies. I had some fun with that recently.
Aha! Thank you. I didn't realize that distinction and how it would come into play here, even after reading your Minor-Heal-to-sniff-out-blocks thread. Thank you!
Not that it matters but flavor wise i would block a white shock wave coming towards me from a hostile priest
