Dice roll add and subtract for guaranteed success/failure

    Thought about this and I was wondering what your guy's opinion on this is. Most dice roll cards are rolled and succeed or fail. There are however those cards that add or subtract from those numbers. So here is a question.

    How would you guys feel if something subtracted below 1 being guaranteed failure or adding above 6 being guaranteed success?

    While there are not many situations were this would come into play, it would give bluemanchu another option to run or designing cards.

    The only example I can come up with is Reliable armor card. Reliable armor never fails and has a dice roll. If you had something that could subtract the value of the roll below 1, it would fail. It would be interesting to have I think and could open the door for more card variants and dice roll manipulation.

    Sorry it's a little confusing to think about dice rolls being below 1 or greater than six. What if instead of affecting the dice roll those card instead affected the number to beat. Yes this is more complicated than the current very simple system but it would allow for something that negates the reliability of reliable armour. We could do this with a little rewording perhaps something like "Bad Luck: Attach to target. Whenever target rolls a dice they must beat their target by 1 or more to succeed". A bit of bad luck would still make unreliable impossible, but also make the reliable a little less so.

    What happens right now if you have reliable mail/hide & bad luck and roll a 1?

    Good question, I'd assumed it would stop at 1, but I've never seen it and so don't know. The more common dice role modifier is hard to block maybe someone has noticed on those?

    Reliable armor currently never fails under any roll circumstance. Unless you bypass it or shred it, it will always activate and work

    Rolls currently stop at 1 if they are counting down due to things like Bad Luck or hard to Block

    Yes, SurgeonFish said that. Twice. The question is whether it SHOULD be that way.

    I would say to keep it that way. Except not to bother with the darn rolling animation for something that literally cannot fail.

    No, he said "Reliable armor never fails under any roll circumstance". That doesn't directly answer the question that was asked, nor address cards other than reliable armor. I simply clarified.
