I am posting this at the request of someone. This is my current three wiz build that I was able to take from 1330 to 1600+ in a few days. It has a few problems against Elf Warriors, but smart play usually takes care of that.

I have found that a little frost is really helpful for dealing with those pesky Cautious Mobility elves. I've been using a pair of Xochu's Icy Circlets in my burst build to good effect lately.

So....this has been pretty effective; I have risen from the dead of my all-arcane team at the depths of ~1100 to 1436 (as of now), in less than a day. I've had to tweak things a little for humans instead of dwarfs, and a couple of items I don't have and needed to replace in the original build, as you'll see below.

    Level 9 Human Wizard

    t. swift
    Level 1 Human Wizard

    j. chastain
    Level 1 Human Wizard

    Why the changes?

Superb Guidance: Needed a tokenless human skill, the Blocks are useful. I'll normally get one of these on one of the three at the beginning of a match, so if I go first, I have a move to make without actually making a move or showing my hand.

Staff Of Winter: I took a hint from Vakaz about the elf movement, and felt this was better for a human mage than the Staff Of Chask. Slowed tends to come up at horrible times for me, so I'd rather not tempt fate any more than needed.

The second Ring Of Appropriation, Barnum's Staff, and Wym's Fiery Bangle are all replacements from the original build. The first two because I don't have Luke's Iron Hand or a second Red Flame, but Wym's because I understand the need to mix up the flame types, but I'd rather have one more range six attack than one at range five. Personal preference, I suppose. I have been giving thoughts to replacing Barnum's with a Roaring Staff, Charring Staff, or Staff of the Fire God to further mix up the types of burn. However, Barnum's has been working well for now.

Thanks, Heretiick, for the initial build. It's a keeper, at least for me right now, before I get more dreams of an all-arcane squad again.

Glad to hear you found a set up which is working for you @gulo gulo . I felt bad about you having such a hard time with the previous map pool. Celestial is definitely more friendly towards all wiz teams, and I see your build has gotten way more solid. Congratz!

You have noticed you can get rid of Slowed by just playing it as a Move 0 card (only changing facing is possible), right? So it doesn't actually slow you, it's mostly just a dead card.

I know, but it tends to appear in my hand when I don't need a move 0 card or encumbrance, so I'd rather just avoid the situation if necessary. Also, I don't find Punishing Boltt as wonderful as many do. I suppose it would work well against an elf that's drawn a ton of cards due to Maneuvers, but I'm not that good to set that situation up and still be alive myself afterward. So, I'll take the assured damage and encumbrance, I suppose.

That being said, if there's elf warriors with maneuvers around? I'm probably still toast. That's an attachment that is not worth burning off. Cannot find a viable way for my wizards to do anything against two elf warriors with maneuvers. And if they have a human priest letting them run around and buff? I should pull a Sir Valimont and resign at the beginning of the match. There's no shot of me winning.

Punishing Bolt is a pretty great counter to both Martyr's Blessing and Elven Manuevers, yeah, since each successive Bolt is hitting for the same amount of damage, as opposed to steadily decreasing as they move away/block/attack.

Okay, I'll try out the Chask. I guess we will see if I can use it correctly.

I fell to 1279 with the Chask (and counting). Time to go back to Winter.
