When I open the game, it has lost all of my progress. When I "retrieve" the saved game from the day before, it refuses to load. My characters were level 8 when I saved the game last night, but when I retrieve the save game, it sticks with the level 4 characters.
Are you replaying a lower level adventure? Specifically, a level 2 adventure? If your chars are higher level than the adventure, their level will be reduced to the adventure's level + 2. This only affects health and power tokens, not equipment slots.
Character are automatically delevelled if you run low level adventures. So if you were running level 2 adventures, even lvl 24 character is going to show temporarily as lvl 4 character. Try playing higher level adventures.
