I was in the multiplayer lobby, searching for an opponent. I clicked cancel search, to return to the keep and change my party. After cancelling, I received the "start of battle" sound, and a battle log tab appeared in the LOBBY chat window, next to the main lobby chat. No actual battle started. Everything else proceeded as normal, I changed my party, and clicked search again. I was matched with Mom and played her. Some time later, I saw I had lost a match that I had never seen (against Scared Little Girl) - the match had clearly started, but my client had not put me in it. I suspect the matchmaker had set up the match, but the order of events means it thought I was in it and timed out. If it lets you stop searching, that should check there's no game about to start first.
From my perspective everything looked normal, apart from PaladinGP not doing anything. After 2:30 I got a free win. After I got back to the lobby, I saw PaladinGP was fighting Mom and it was round 2 already.
