Even though you may find one item to be better than another, every item has it's advantages. For example the Flimsy Block of a Battered Shield won't help against an Obliterating Hack. Although, the chances are low at least the Unreliable Block provides that chance to prevent it. It all comes down to how you use it (and luck, lots and lots of luck).
