Is elvish insight and similar cards supposed to work on people outside of the party? Just curious, as had it played by enemies in the first arena match (lvl 9 adventure) and it had me move my elf as well. Hard to say this a bug or not, so reason I'm posting it in Q&F.
Yup, that's what the card says. That's the danger when using it in multiplayer. Note all the cards that say "ally," "nearby character" (not necessarily "ally"), and so on: this one says "Elves" and by gum it means it.
Yup, that's what it says on the card - so this would be following the card rules. Then again, we all know of the unintended side effects of some rules in ccg - I mean, if it's unintended just adding a "all friendly elves, or all elvis in your party" would solve the matter.
It hadn't really occurred to me that it might be unintended. This is just another category of effect like you see in lots of games: there are the "ally" effects, the "anyone within range, ally or enemy" effects, the "anyone who meets this criterion, ally or enemy, and by the way this leads to metagaming about what sort of characters you and your opponent choose to field" effects (like these for Elves and Dwarves), and so on.
Yup, that's exactly what I meant. Reason I pondered if it was intended - was that I haven't seen any card specifying only allies, party members or enemies.
Izzat so? You mean universally? Well, to the inventory I go! Altruism -An ally other than yourself Mass Frenzy - Every ally (including you) Swarming Attack - Every ally within 2 squares Loner - Each character within 2 squares Inspiring Presence - Every character within 3 squares of you Defensiveness - If an Enemy is within 3 squares And then we get complicated: Fork - When you play a Magic card that targets a single character, that card also targets the closest ally of that character There's also Bad For Them and Good For Us, using similar linguistic twists to Fork. And, of course, tons of other things that say "an enemy," like Quick Reactions.
Lol, well. Thanks for taking the time Sir Knight. Then again, Altruism and defensiveness is the only one I've seen in play this far so I was basing it on my observation of the game - and altruism is a spell that requires a target to be effective, hence I didnt count it here. Have stayed clear of Loner as it seems horrible even if it didn't count enemies.
Yeah, it would be good - but I tend on using party based groups, so would suck for my builds. As of now, it sucks in any build...
I habitually sell anything with the loner trait as it's just too much of a risk, especially when the game seems to get into a "replace trait with another trait" loop and so you're seemingly bound to pull it sooner rather than later.
I had a discussion about this card with a few people. Yes it is suppoed to work on enemies and its also my favorite card at the moment. Its probably slightly undertuned in rarity if it is one that is to stay due to its function. Knowing enemy cards is essential to stratgey. Prolly needs to be rated higher as I can have 3 for each character.
