Lenbears? Huh? This will sound flagrant to youpe, and these are just my thoughts but, this game is as much about freedom of expression as freedom of ideas. What's wrong with saying 'wow'. unless it deliberately implies that your opponent has no skill. Sometimes you just need to vent your frustration at RNGeesus. As for people reporting I'm not sure you need to worry if you actions are words are good. I feel you may have more harm than good to this game by creating an exclusive stereotype and then lumping people into it. So, I'm sorry for being so direct, but to me these are the things that form divisions between people. If you feel that your creation "lenbear" is still valid I ask that you give good reason why. Otherwise could you please keep the term to yourself. We are all the same at end of the day. We all want to be happy and respected. For me, I try to respect each person with this in mind until they give me good reason to take it away. It may be easier to lump them in a derogatory category once they say 'wow', etc., but can be more productive to both if you try to also see their value. E.g Ector often seems to be trolling, but his great forum thread about the lunginator, lead to Bandreus and I'm sure others devoting time and respect to an otherwise under-used weapon. Rant over. Back to the spaceship
I have no idea what any of this is about. While I feel like it was not necessarily directed at me, I'm posting here on the off-chance that I can get context and understand what is happening.
I assume Christofff was reported for using "wow" in a condescending/aggressive sounding way in multiplayer. Could be wrong, but that's what I got out of that rant... To Christofff: Assuming that's the case, it's up to you to learn communicate better. If people consistently mis-interpret your intentions and you want them to understand you better, you should express your intentions better! Asking the world to change for you isn't going to work.
"wow" is actually one of the most interesting subjects about Cardhunter that I've been here to see happen, as hilarious as it sounds. It has transcended Lenbear, becoming part of the games slang similarly to "nerf" on a smaller scale. Similarly to how if you talked about nerf to a non-internet person they would think of the toy line, to non-Cardhunter people wow just means that they're impressed. (On that note I've started noticing it when people in real life say wow repeatedly and they have no idea why I'm getting irritable.) The only real difference here is that whereas nerf is a relatively uncommon word to be used in its original context, wow is a rather common word that has suddenly picked up a negative connotation similar to flipping the bird to an opponent and implying that they are a [insert bad thing]. This has understandably caught some people off guard.
Kids these days... what're these new-fangled memes trying to encroach on my territory? They'll have to try harder before I worry about paying attention.
