Lots of people are interested in co-op, but it takes a lot of work to set it up. (I just watched a bunch of players spend 90 minutes setting up a game.) What if we had a co-op league? Then the matchmaker can automatically make teams out of the next six people in the queue. And if it's Quick Draw, we can skip explaining how to set up your party for it.
Hmmmm, a pay to enter league, where people can win and lose loot on the quality or lack thereof of their teammates' play (and drafting). Queue people who take the game too seriously complaining about the unfairness of getting matched with sub-1000 teammates against an all 1500+ team. Don't mind my wet-blanketness, there's really no good reason to avoid a fun idea just because grumpy people are going to grump.
Also, you don't want the "pay 50 for 3 chests" people (as I do now) signing up for these. If the league happens, I'll try to pay attention and avoid it.
Well, assuming it worked basically like any other league, it probably shouldn't matter. I gather the idea is that you'd still be assigned to a pod, then when you queue up a match, it puts 6 people in the match instead of 2. Winners share the same score... so, if my team wins and the opposing team gets 2vp, we each score 1 win and 4 tiebreak points. Overall, each player is still just competing with the rest of their own pod for prizes, so non-participating players wouldn't really hurt anybody. They wouldn't even slow down the queue, since you have the same number of participating players with or without them. Same goes for Scarponi's concern really. The people whining about that are going to be the same people who would be whining about their matchups, their draws, the maps, or the phase of the moon making them lose anyway. It might be a bit more intense with their score depending on the skills of random teammates, but nobody forces them to join. I like the idea, but it might be nice to make it a separate option, rather than part of the usual league rotation.
I don't see how it would be any different than current leagues. It's the "first-turn-resign" players we need to exclude, but I don't think we get many of them in leagues.
D'OH! Didn't think about the queuing. Freebie pod buffs will continue if you sign alongside deadwood.
