Card limitation

yo this thread is aimed to the following players:

-those who get tired of matching up with a particular build in a particular map that is very hard to overcome without specific counter (nimbus)
-those who would to see/play all those forgotten cards that are never used due to better cousins (team run/team shift)

given that, i think that some sort of number limitation should be inserted on the top cards of the game, in order to enhance variety and fight lame rock paper scissor team ( my team x wins against team y but lose to team z etc..), and that could be made also without preventing players from using more than X team runs, but with , for example, have team runs over than X come with a halt trait preceeding them, or talented healer over Y going along with one of those juicy bleeding traits found in the campaign (wich i would love to see avaliabe for mp btw ).
that would be cool, if coding allows it of course :+

The advantage of a game like Card Hunters over traditional card games is that there is no need for a restriction on certain cards. If a card is found to be too powerful, and I think you'll find many people that agree with you on Team Run, then it can be changed. If you feel that these cards deserve to be changed then start a thread or if one already exists add your thoughts to it. The developers are watching. If there is enough uproar over a card they will change it on the test server for everyone to try out and eventually implement in game.

I don't think we can count on that :D

You can beat Nimbus decks without purging effects too. I'd phrase it so that every deck won't have decent chances against every other and that's just fine.
BM has said that not all cards/items are meant to be playable in MP and currently things are a lot better than they were before the big balance changes. These NS/VP were crazy.

I think the rock-paper-scissors type of scenario is inevitable in any strategy game.
But I don't think adding limitations is the way to go... If you can truly define a Type A, Type B and Type C build and see it as a distinct match-up advantage to have A vs. B, B vs. C and C vs. A, then try to find D which can compete with all three.
OR wait for the maps to change and see if any of it matters.

D is the reason why i made this post: i always go for a balanced team, and what happens is that you get chance against everyone, but you happen to be the weakest side most of the games.

IF you had the opportunity to make a build that would give you an edge no matter who you faced it would really kill the fun. It is a good thing that there no dominant builds (which there were pre-balance), means that everyone who is paying attention won't choose to do the same thing. There was an era of "spin to win" where people would have teams with warriors jacked up with Blind Rage and Nimble Strike (the step 4, 6 damage variety) and as many Whirlwind and Whirlwind Enemies as possible and would just whirlwind the board (when they would relocate characters to any random spot on the map, not the nerfed down 2 distance max) to isolate an enemy use NS to close gaps and kill. There was NO counter other than to use WW/WWE yourself and before the AotA expansion you didn't even have Pushback Parry to try to impact the barrage of step attacks. Trust that this is a much more balanced MP game and much more fun to play. There are people who find ways to win consistently (anyone with a rating over 1500 is a top player) it is a matter that no build by itself is enough to win (unlike a game like MtG where build is the vast majority of the game).

In regards to Team Run there is a limit. NO ONE can have more than 6. It is a Gold card (so it should be powerful) and it is only available on boots with a token cost and 1 Martial Skill. The only way to have more than 1 per character is to have a warrior with 2 tokens used on team run items. There are 4 Epic and 2 Legendary Boots with Team Run and the "unfair" nature is that the boots are all hard to get so veteran player like myself have 3 (or more) to use where as newer players just wont have this option available. I think the Martial Skill being a rare gives warriors an edge, but in truth Warriors need the extra movement since range 2 is as long as it gets (with the exception of a few quirky items with non-melee cards for warriors).

An alternative is an Elvish Scamper team which you can have 6 of that card if you use 3 elves with the Superb Evasion racial which is a rare and costs a token. But you need to want to play elves and if you are facing elves it is a less favorable tactic.

What I have been dealing with is the decision of to purge or not to purge. Since there are so many powerful attachments (both buffs and offensive) that are popular in the current meta it makes purge or the sweet Purging Burst an important tool. They can literally be a game changer against fire wiz heavy teams or Impen. Nimbus or any multi buffs (warriors with Mass Frenzy and Blind rage or Vamps with Martyr's Blessing).
But then if you stock up and your opponent uses no attachments you have dead cards, so it becomes a rock-paper-scissor where purge heavy teams have an edge over buff and fire teams, who have an advantage over teams with no or few purge or, which have an advantage over purge heavy teams.
It is all about choices you can't always have an advantage and just have to decide how you can play a style that allows you to win even when the cards aren't in your favor.

Of course this reminds me of when I used to play hold 'em a lot. I used to enjoy playing poor players, but it got frustrating at times because the weaker the player the more unpredictable they were and when someone beats you holding 5-8 off-suit you just scratch your head. In CH it is similar in that lower ranked players tend to run high variability builds that can dominate once in a while but lose more of the time... which is why you hear people complaining about bad draws. If you make a good build it is rare to get a bad draw. Yes if you draw three blocks 1st round and then 2 moves next and your 2 armor cards next it can be frustrating and would be a legit bad draw. But most of the time it shouldn't matter, if you have a bad draw you need to hide, if you have a good one attack etc. and if you are complaining about it you probably need to change your build.

I am not an expert (I have been bouncing around the 1300 since the balance... I miss long step attacks) but I have been playing almost since the game started and well I obsess when I can, since it is a strategy game that has a great mix of randomness and variability that makes domination impossible (as opposed to me playing a high level chess player and getting beaten 10 out of 10 times) and the possibilities have not all been exhausted so I have more knowledge than most even though I typically can only play 5 days a week and usually only 3 or 4 matches, so I get behind the curve quickly.

nad here goes the 1300'ish noob who goes along explaining the pre-patch scenario to me, as if i wasn't there at the time, as if it didnt took over a year to change it, as if i didn't quit the game back in the days due to ns and fs. thank you.

Well, I've been here over a year and don't remember you either. Can't expect it in any online community if you stay away for a while.

Yes because I'm a noob... sorry I have a life and family and can't play daily like most of the top players... I've been playing since November of 2013 so I am a veteran even if I am at a middling ranking right now, i dared to try other styles so I dropped off from when I was a 1500s player and it takes a while to climb back up (and I play a lot of leagues). If you want to insult me quote my post or use my screen name instead of being a Melvin. :p
