Yeah usually, especially when it comes to computer and phone, if it did work there is a really stupid reason why it doesn't work now and probably a work around. Just temp unrooted and proxied my phone to allow the update to KitKat. This allowed me to bypass the Verizon system secure crap. Just patched the root files and away I went.

Anywhooo. I would still look into it considering it was only a couple of months ago.
