    Week 0 doesn't count.

For the rest I'm not sure how you want me to explain it. But every player who made a weekly table will be in the seasonal table, with a score equal to the sum of their weighted weekly ratings (rating divided by # of weeks).

Is it just for those who make the list, or is there a division within the list (like top 3 get X prize while 4 to 10 get Y prize)?

There will be differentiation in prize for the final standings. Will announce prize structure as soon as Jon or Farbs sign off on my proposal.

Yes, playing more games is more important than anything else to top the first table. I find it is very good that it is so since Card Hunter needs more MP games to be played - that's the main point of this PvP season IMO. Our player pool isn't too big but if many of us would play many games every day then most of us would have opponents near one's rating to play against.
And since win rate and standing also matter something, the overall formula is very good overall, giving small edge to those who win more of their games - I like it.

Are those the prices for both categories?
So that someone can win 1 slime from one category and 2 from the other one? :)

You need 9 to form all possible full slime parties, you need to stop slacking and step up your game!

    Yes.

    Congratulations :)

If you win first place in both categories, you'll have 30 chests, 3 slime figures, 2 sweet trophies, and a ton of street cred. Besides, do you really need encouragement? :)

    :D
In those Leagues was a system that if you win a figure you already had, you will get 80 pizza instead :)

Blue Manchu decided not to give pizza rewards for this, but the scenario in question is a corner case at best, so maybe we can just bring it up again once someone actually tops both charts at the end of June? ;)

  15. Flaxative, I would like to make it clear that I think this is a great idea. Anything that encourages more players to MP can only be a good thing. I would take issue with one thing from the OP regarding players lowering their rating. I don't actually think anyone goes out to specifically tank their rank right down to the point where they're getting easy match after easy match. Given the small size of the MP player pool online at any one time a player who was 1500 would have to tank down to 1100 in order to avoid playing the people they would be matched with as before. This is entirely impractical given the time it takes and the fact that only a few victories would see them back at the point where they are re-matched with those they are supposed to be avoiding. I play a fair bit of MP and I've never seen anyone actually do that. What I do see is people purposefully not take certain matches because they don't like the map or they don't like playing vs a certain deck, but that does not effect their average rank.

What we have is a deeper issue that is tied somehow into entitlement and perception of rank and if we can assume rank tanking does not exist or certainly if it does is barely ever done then that leaves us with two distinct camps. Those who regard each letter of the law as sacrosanct and those who display a little more common sense. For example, you wouldn't call the police if you spotted someone jaywalking. On the same token, I wouldn't waste a report on someone who, lets say, didn't want to play the Koi map. Common sense allows us to differentiate between this and someone who is intentionally stalling or being abusive.

Lets assume our goal is get more people playing MP and then with that goal in mind lets look at two things that are currently occurring daily:

People choose to leave a match at the start.
People sit the lobby all day and are condescending and obtuse to new players.

Which is more likely to cause a negative effect on the player pool?

In any case, I wish the PvP season to be a roaring success!

Really? Daily? I hang around the lobby on and off quite often and very seldom have I seen anything like this. On the contrary, I see people being helpful and encouraging to newbies all the time. I'm sorry your experience has been so different. Maybe the Negative Neils are around only while I'm asleep.

On your Loot Fairy tracker page you might want to highlight, bold, and underline this link (and include a brief description about players winning PRIZES). You might also want to explain "STANDING." That way people know not to simply forfeit instead of just passing to lose.

Also, the rewards are a bit cutthroat. Only a single player or two gets the slime figures? I'd suggest spreading the love out a bit more.

People do tank their rating specifically to get easy matches. It has been documented on numerous occasions. I have a list of like 5 people who have done it in more than 20 games. It is a huge problem and really needs to be fixed. It isn't really that impracticable to join a match, instantly forfeit, and repeat that over and over every 5 minutes or so. [SOME PERSON] did it for over 100 games. It isn't about simply "not liking a map" or "not liking fighting a certain thing" -- you should always play to win even if you don't like one little aspect about the match. To be a competitive thing everyone needs to play like it matters or it undermines the whole system.

The letter of the law should be "sacrosanct" -- however just because you report someone for throwing a match doesn't mean they will be punished. It has to be a repeated behavior that is seen by multiple players. You should ALWAYS report someone if they intentionally throw a match: they will only be punished if it is an actual problem in that they do it regularly. Jaywalking isn't a good analogy because it is harmless crime -- throwing games undermines the system and when deflated Elo players decide to play to win they stomp on opponents they should not be facing.

And "people sit [in] the lobby and are condescending and obtuse to new players"? When? Everyone I've seen is extremely helpful to new players who are learning the game. I'm always willing to help new players out by learning the ropes and playing a few matches with them. Can you give concrete examples of what people have been doing negatively to new players?

  19. Yesterday you were talking down to two much lower-ranked players and eventually resorted to using your ELO as a reason as to why you must be right and they must be wrong. This is a problem for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it promotes the Melvin caricature and perpetuates the myth that all high rank ELO players are like that when in reality it's only one or two. This is not attractive to new or lower ranked players. Secondly, it implies that ELO begets authority when it does not. It is facile to obtain a 1500-1700 rank just by using a bastardisation of the PaladinGP deck (as you know) or a bastardisation of the SLG deck. I've done it myself and I am terrible at games in general and not in the least bit smart. Authority to speak would derive from genuine creativity and obvious inherent understanding. TurinTuramba is a good example of someone who people should listen to, but there are plenty of others. On another occasion someone was having an issue and you implied you would take it to the devs as though you are either a BM employee or have some other kind of special relationship, when what you really meant was you would send a tweet at them. This is misleading but derivative of how you wish to see yourself as opposed to reality.

You genuinely keep a list. An actual real list. That just says everything that needs to be said.

    A) It's just a silly game and it doesn't matter.
    B) Let the competitors be competitive, and let the time-killers kill time. I don't think us slackers in the middle will mess up the top end.
    C) I don't tank, but I play a mediocre, inconsistent (dead cards) build in an overly aggressive and often unfocused fashion. With good draws I'm lethal, with dead draws I'm toast. Either result is fine with me as long as I eventually get a daily chest. I suspect this is a deplorable attitude.
    D) System? There's a system? I'll have to look into that someday.
Sorry. I just had to let that out.

To those who enjoy competing at CH: Best wishes, and good luck!
To Flaxative: Thanks for your work on this. I hope many people enjoy it, and it increases PVP participation. :)
