Weapons for your Warrior

I've noticed that my Warrior is experiencing extreme token shortage :) This is nothing new for you, I know, but I'd like to know how do you solve this problem. There are three weapon slots, if I place a decent weapon in each, that's 6 tokens, leaving only 2 to everything else.

Let's start with weapons. I have Bejeweled Shortsword and The Hackmaster, one Lochaber Axe (going to buy the second now), White Katana and one Rageblood Dagger. I have a lot of other nice weapons, but these are probably the best for damage or mobility.
The problem is: all these weapons require two tokens. The best tokenless weapons I have are Flimsy Rapier and Hefty Stout Club, and they are awful. I've played the rapier until recently, but decided to upgrade it. That takes 6 tokens for the weapons. One yellow token goes to Slippery Shield without question, so I have only one token for the rest items (helm, armor, boots and two skills). Having Xander's Mail is a blessing, Crusty Helm is more or less decent, but the rest is a problem. I don't have the good tokenless boots or skills.

How do you solve this problem?

    Don't worry about it.

Seriously, as long as your warriors are doing damage, it's all good. I've dumped all my warrior's tokens into their weapons, and that got me to mid 1400 (thanks Obliterating Bludgeon!).

If you're actually concerned, then look for these three weapons to free up a couple of tokens: Nifty Halberd, Blazing Shortsword, and The Strongarm.

Actually I'm contstantly struggling to have enough movement and damage for my warrior, but still lose due to lack of one or another from time to time :(

Running the second Lochaber along with the Bejeweled will solve most of your movement problems and still provide decent damage. PaladinGP ran his dwarves that way in his Divide and Conquer build and discusses use of the final token (after adding Slippery) in that thread.

    Hi Ector! Nice post.

Before I can give you real feedback, it would help to know what your team comp is (which races and which classes). This comes in handy because as the Mask Makers points out, some races have helpful items.

I run two warriors and one priest (elves and human respectively). Humans have great support skills for warrior that allow them to cover more distance like Perfect Command. You can find team shuffles on all sorts of items, which may be just what you need to move off of those pesky lava terrains.

There are also great martial skills for your warriors like Savvy Attacker. Savvy Attacker is actually a great introduction into team pushes on movement cards which is getting a lot of play these days. I've always appreciated extra room for a Rhood's Boots on a wizard or a priest to support the rest of the team.

Now, these are ways of getting movement into your decks without necessarily putting them on your warriors that are limited by tokens. However, you can always change your tactics to the point that you don't need movement as badly. There are a lot of comps out there that use two warriors one wizard. The wizard whirlwinds every enemy until they land next to your warrior that that can obliterate it.

Lastly, I would suggest that you either follow the advice already given (which is primarily use two great weapons and a third that isn't so token heavy) or else maybe you need to examine your priorities between dmg/movement/etc.

Or else you can always go Elf Warriors and never look back :D

I recommend using 6 tokens on weapons, unless you have a really nice tokenless weapons like Blazing Shortsword or The Strongarm.

I just had a 24 win streak using two dwarf warriors (with wiz) kitted out like this:

    Bejeweled Shortsword
    Blocking Mace
    Lochaber Axe
    Crusty Helm
    Slippery Shield
    Perlious Ringmail
    Goat Boots
    Savvy Attacker
    Apprentice Ferocity

With the items you have, you could put in your hackmaster for the blocking mace, or run bejeweled/lochaber/rageblood/solid rock (and drop savvy attacker).

It's just so effective to load up your warrior with weapons costing 6 tokens. The point of most warriors is to deal damage. Plus, spending a token on one of the many, sub-par Heavy Armor or Helmets for one token isn't even close to spending those tokens on a weapon. Like it has been said, once you are done with weapons, add a Slippery Shield and you are almost out of tokens.

It's just worth it. I mean, there are some weapons like Excellent Rapier/ Beater/Darune's Dagger which are OK for one token, and the tokenless items mentioned aren't bad, but in all seriousness DON'T use them unless you are spending the tokens on something really important to your build (EG General Jelom's Helm/ Captain Cedric's Boots/Juniper's Jumper/Sticky Slippers). Just keep in mind that your damage output will decrease.
But for 90% of us with average gear, you are better off without using tokenless weapons.

When you are looking for good tokenless boots and skills:
    Human: Novice Command
    Dwarf: Apprentice Ferocity
    Elf: Spend a token. Seriously.

    Boots:
-Chestnut Boots are rare, check if you have any.
    -Goat Boots aren't bad either!
-.. You must have something decent in the epic shoe department if you have been playing this long???

I currently run Dwarf Warrior, Dwarf Wizard and Human Priest (human for Perfect Command). There was no special idea about the team, I'm just playing my 3 games per day for the loot :)

I have both. That was the reason of my question: I had to replace Savvy Attacker to free the token.

That's my problem: i simply have no decent tokenless weapons.

I have pretty the same build now, with Hackmaster instead of Blocking Mace. I don't have Apprentice Ferocity, so I have to play some crappy tokenless skill (Untrained Toughness). I have Savvy Attacker, but decided to drop it for the Sticky Slippers. Fortunately, I have Xander's Mail, since I don't like Perilous Ringmail at all.

Untrained Toughness is... pretty bad. If I had to would use Stout Charger or Novice Ferocity instead.
Honestly I would pick a better skill that costs a token, even something common like Advanced Toughness, Charging Battler or Raging Brute if you lack better epic/legendary options like Raging Rock.

I got a long way in multiplayer with my one Bejewelled Shortsword/Warrior's Mace/Rageblood Dagger, along with a Slippery Shield, Raging Rock, and some common items with a better counterpart available (Defensive Helm, Solid Mail) so don't give up too easily.
For you I would go with what you are probably using already-
Bejeweled Shortsword and The Hackmaster, one Lochaber Axe
Along with whatever else you got. Between my Chestnut Boots and Perfect Command support (along with several Winds of War) I had no problem landing Mighty/Powerful Bludgeons.
Keep an eye out for Chestnut/Corian's Boots/ Off-balance Boots, although if you can get Apprentice Ferocity+ Sticky Slippers that will boost your damage output a fair bit!

  13. I have recently gotten incredibly lucky with tokenless warrior weapons. I regularly farm and this past week I picked up The Strongarm, and two Blazing Shortswords for my efforts, adding to the one of each I already owned. This got me to thinking I could free up some tokens and perhaps invest in some powerful armor and helms (General Jelom's Helm looks nice), but then I had to consider whether Strongarm or Blazing Shortsword is the better choice. For bigger plain numbers, The Strongarm is huge at 42 total attack points for no tokens. Consider that some double yellow token weapons don't have that high a tally, including Vibrant Pain...which indicates that numbers aren't everything. Blazing Shortsword tallies at only 24 naked attack points, but it packs a lot of extras. For one, it has a trait, which will slim your deck at the cost of one less attack. The two turns of burning on the Fiery Stabs could add up to 18 more damage, and the Clumsy Chop might hit two people at the same time for an extra 3 damge, putting the maximum imaginary damage on this weapon at 43, but those cards will hardly ever do all that damage. Small flame damage is easily soaked by armor, and sometimes you lose the game before it occurs, or your opponent's character dies before it matters, and chops are not easy to set up as it is, let alone on two characters without blocks or with no cards left in your hand (or maybe you are just ballsy and hope your Clumsy Chop is a lucky one). I am a fan of the spear attacks, and if you play Dodge, they can really work out for you. Also worth noting is that there are a lot of Combustibles to take advantages of with Fiery Stab these days.

So maybe I have done most of the discussion on these two weapons already in this tortuous post, but in the end I still cannot decide which I like better. Any want to tip the scales one way or the other?

Go with the legendary The Strongarm. That way your opponents can feel a little better about their loss at your hands as they can mutter to themselves "Yeah, it's easy for him to win with all those legendary weapons..."

Is the rest of your damage-dealing range 2 or range 1? Maybe it's more effective to keep to one strategy, either stay on their skin or one step removed, maybe not try to do both? On the other hand, having the option of range 2 damage might often be useful. You could always compromise and go with one with one warrior and the other with the other warrior. Adjust as results roll in. Probably you can't go wrong with either one so feel free to mix'n'match as the mood strikes you.

  15. I am kitted out with all 1 range weapons (and they are already likely to cause my opponents to mutter), but a few 2 range attacks can surprise an opponent who think you are using 1 rangers. Nevertheless, the scale is so far a little heavier on the Strongarm side.

I would take the stabs over the short range attacks any day. I just find that when you stab someone, they have to react by either getting closer or trying to get farther away. Either way it opens them up to a step attack or a Hack of your own. Having the option to stab someone who thinks they are out of range is always a plus.
