What is it when the dice rolls multiple times?

Sometimes when showing the dice roll it flickers on a few numbers before landing on the final one. Every time however the color of the dice already shows red or green if it is going to hit so is there any other reason for this animation?

 

There's no functional reason. It's purely for show.

Isn't there the animation when something changes the result of the die roll like hard to block or bad luck?

 

Yes it is. The animation is to show the adjustment being made, which I think is kind of cool.
