There are so few counters to choose from to prepare for the possibility of facing a frosty team. I'd like to see some cards like this: I'm actually making two suggestions in one here: That "Denies" be a new keyword for the Arrogant armor effect: Cards of this type can't attach to you. Arrogant Armor's text could be shortened to,"Denies All". One of the fun things about this is that even though it's a counter, it wouldn't be a strict nerf for mages. We've seen plenty of mage teams that walk around in fireproof armor and then firestorm, hitting their own team with abandon. With this, you could play a Frozen Barbarians of the North themed team, and charge onto the field with your front line troops in hides, giving you freedom to Cone of Cold into your own front line with abandon. I'd love to see a handful of cards like this: Quilted Padding: Armor 1 (Missing the keyword "Keep", like Cloth Armor). Doesn't count towards your hand limit (like the Officer's Harness). And it has "Denies Frost, Keep". Some sample cards I'd put Warm Hides on: Ug's Boots : Boots : Warm Hides, Cloth Armor, Walk Barbarian Boots : Boots : Warm Hides, Mail, Dash Shaman's Furs : Robe : Warm Hides, Cone of Cold, Quilted Padding Vestments of the Liche : Robe : Warm Hides, Cone of Cold, Icy Block Barbarian Motley : Heavy Armor : Warm Hides, Reliable Mail, Leather Harness Wodin's Mail : Divine Armor : Warm Hides, Warm Hides, Dynamic Mail I've had a lot of frustrating fights because I brought a fighter-heavy team and came up against mages throwing wind and cold. And I've played mage teams like that, myself. Right now, there's not enough card options to counter wind and cold, so when you get beaten by them, you're left feeling like not only did your stranded fighters get stuck discarding fun combos you wanted to play, but there wasn't really anything you could have done about it from the start, short of bringing a different class blend.
Just imagine your favorite barbarian warrior in it. Depending on your favorite barbarian warrior, that either prompted a, "How does she stay warm in that?" Or a "What has been seen cannot be unseen!"
I do have to say that I just did get the most satisfying end to a Whirlwind spam game yet. Guy throws 4 WWs/WWEs out a single mage in the course of the game. I've gotten lucky on where I've landed and packed TONS of team moves, so I'm still neck and neck with him at 4 stars each. I walk up to his mage. He runs away. I walk up again. He does something else. I don't attack. He asks if I have any attacks, and casts "Whirlwind Enemies". Again. He drops my other priest in sight of his mage. Who has two hit points. "Well, I've got this 'Misguided Heal'," I say, since he asked if I was holding any attacks, "You holding any armor on your mage?" He wasn't.
It just happened again, same day. Guy whirlwinds the entire game long, and the only way I can catch him for the final blow is a Misguided Heal.
Warming Hide: Protection against cold, +1 damage for each fire spell. You take 1 more damage from fire spells.
