    quick and easy:
    5-10 pizza entry fee
    4-8 players
    best of 1 or 3
    king of the hill
    winner takes 1/2 prize pool
    runner up 1/4

    playmode:

you get a randomzied pool of about 50 items.
( how exactly will need some thinking and testing)

people get about 10-20 mins to make their builds

if best of 3 there could be limited sideboarding

sounds like something i would really love to play all day and all night

Pizza for the prize pool? How about an epic chest for the winner, rare chest for runner(s)-up?

Interesting. Great to see someone come up with specific suggestions.

My main issue with this closed tournament format is that it requires coordination and fixed participation times. Here is an idea how it could be done in a "gliding" way that does not require you to stay online at specific times.

First, buy a "tournament coupon" and pick your 3 PCs by race and class. For each slot, you get a two commons and one uncommon item, each with a different token cost, so that you are guaranteed that you can equip your party.

On top of that, you get a fixed number of rares, epics and legendaries of any type and level (as long as you have that slot). The amount will need to be balanced with the entry fee. The number and rarity has to be the same for everyone, so either everyone gets one legendary or nobody. Of course, a guaranteed lagendary will be quite a draw to the format, and hopefully the market price of Relics of St. Darqar won't suffer.

Once you have built your party, you can seek out other tournament players. Each match is fought a second time with switches starting positions and start order. The timer is more strict: 5 min + 1 min per round.

You can only fight each participant with one party once. You can either be matched automatically or you can challenge other teams. Both count the same.

There will be two league tables: Total Victory Points by team and average Victory Points by team.

I'm using VPs rather than wins to encourage players to stay on a fight instead of rage quitting. Of course, if you resign the opponent is awarded a full 6 Victory Points.

Each week, top league players get chest coupons (which go to normal inventory, not the sealed team)

As a special option, you can create a "private league". This is simply a list of 10 or so teams that you can invite people to.
If you fight a member of your private league, the match is recorded there and in the general league.
The private league closes after each player played each (or X days are over)

After 20 sealed matches, you can choose to disband the team and move it to standard MP / SP, including items.

If the format becomes popular, you can add alternative modes, such as lower level, more rare items etc.

sure, an arena would be interesting as well,
maybe even something that is like this:
you get a set amount of wins to reach a milestone at which you get new gear.
at that milestone youre playing against others who reached it until the next one.
if you get too many losses youre back to square one - permadeath.

for each milestone reached you may keep one item.

target: to reach perfect gear and become the everlasting champion
