Greetings to all and a big thank you to BM for this nice Game. ..please excuse my weak english. f2p and MP brings always the same problems. Grind or Pay and of course the Game gets dominated through Items( Cards ). See BM i want that you get Money but what can you do? People pays mostly not for nothing so there come the Items. I think it would be better if you had sold this Game for say 20-30 € and a litte Subprice like 3-5€ . MP this Game can rock. Sure. But for me MP is only for one thing good. A interessting Game against a other Human. Ladder, Ranks and so on not my thing. So it would be cool to have different MPs like Draft(sealed deck=equal Cards), i would like a MP as Option with out a timer at all ( have friends to play with time. hey some old folks like talk and chessplay). ok. Again sorry for this English but i hope you "feel" what i think were are the Problems with this Game and f2p is. Dont forget BM need Money for this cool Game but how get it without destroying this little Gem? F2P its evil
There are other ways than secondary currency to incorporate free play, like paid advertising. I don't see that much any more, though. Draft Play has been suggested before, lots of people think that's a good idea, including me. I play Magic The Gathering in real life, and one of the modes my friends like to play is a Draft style, where we all pitch in $5-10 to buy some booster packs, and then have a Draft tournament, usually with 3 rounds of drafting from about 20-30 booster packs. Afterwards, we follow up with normal play using our new decks, but that's getting a little off-topic here. Draft is definitely something people want on here, and I think Blue Manchu will add it eventually, but they are a small team and have many things to work on. I can't speak for them, but I can speak for myself and what I've read on the forums, which is that players desire Draft Play. EDIT: Oh, and the timer is in there to keep the matches to a bearable limit. Some of my opponents have taken a really long time on their turns, and I'm thankful for that clock because it forces them to speed things up when they start running down their clock. The Shortest my clock has EVER run was around 15:30 by the end of the match. I'm usually a quick player
While I agree that the history of F2P games is generally poor, we feel that this allows everyone to try the game and get into it while only investing their time. If you want to continue, there are ways to do so and they still cost less than blowing $40-60 on a game that might not be any good. That being said, many of our highest-ranked players have played completely for free so I don't like calling Card Hunter a pay-to-win game
I dont want to sound offense. Of course the Game gives a lot away for free and thats a nice thing. Its more about the Game Design Problems that came with F2P in the long run in my opinion. I m sure that Blue Manchu wants to get paid for a good Game so you can with F2P not only think about Game Design you must think about Ways to get your Money. And yes Cardhunter has one of the best F2P Models i m aware of. But it goes the same old way grind or p(l)ay. See many Players out there take the grind as a Gamepart. I think there are many Players out there that are tired of this mechanical Grind and like me dont see Grind as playing a Game. Ok these are not really new Topics but i really think that F2P sometimes can kill great Games in the long run. I hope that will not be the case with Cardhunter, i wish you luck with this Game as a Company, seriously. Btw. some one else has posted that and i m in the same boat: i would like to have Paysafe as billing option. I want to give you over time a little bit of Money.
The grind is what keeps players invested in the game for a length of time, with or without paying. Being part of the club gives you a single extra item after each battle. Although you can spend your pizza on buying Epic chests, it's not very cost efficient to spend about $4 on an Epic chest, assuming you bought 1800 slices at $50. if you bought 330 slices at $10 you're looking at about $4.55 for an Epic chest (150 slices). You'd get more bang for your buck if you spent pizza on a lengthy membership, as every single chest gives you a Club item that's on par or better than your best item from a chest. About $10 to use pizza for a month of membership nets you way more opportunity for Epics and Legendaries than buying 2 epic chests with the same pizza. EDIT: That Basic Edition is looking tastier and tastier the more I look at it. I think I'll get that the next time I have some money to spare!
It's kind of hard to avoid something like RNG when even the name of the game is Card Hunter. You're supposed to enjoy hunting cards. You're grinding, you're collecting. One implies work, and the other a hobby. How you see it should tell you whether this game is a good fit for you. But try to fix things so that everything is somehow available in a boxed set you can buy, and I'm not even sure you'd have the same game anymore. It would feel like paying for a hacked version of the game where half the fun of progression has been robbed from me. :/ Even part of the fun of a draft system is that once it's over, you start over fresh with a new draft, so there's always that feeling of collection and trying new combinations. Drafts seem to be a reasonably popular thing to ask for lately, so cross your fingers?
BTW: No offense taken at all! I think conversations like this are the only way to find the best solution.
I've been mulling over a setup for a Draft Tournament, and varieties of faux-draft matches, like two players getting random equips from chests to use with temporary characters, none of the loot or characters saved after the match. I'm hesitant to post a suggestion for a Draft Tournament, as there are already several posts on the topic. Guess I'll just keep refining my Suggestion until I see that no one's making any more progress on their's.
Aldones you are right. Of course some grinding is part of the Game. Maybe its not the grinding at all but the not so smart handling of the Items and Chars. I dont like the Inventory and more then once i wanted to play but after seeing the Inventoryscreen again i lost the will for playing. See its fun for me to play the Game. Ok grinding is playing. But now i need time for handling the Inventory and the Chars with a subpar System. To think about what Items for which Map is part of the Game that i like but the Inventorysystem makes it a little to unpleasant for me. I will see. Thanks for your responses so far.
