Last night I thought I would try firing up CH in the theater room to see how it looked and played on a big screen. It turned out great!
The resolution is 1080p, you are probably referring to the aspect ratio (which is cinemacope and much wider than any standard computer monitor or laptop) or the fact that the camera is at an angle to try and fit the whole screen in there. The screen is the size of four 65" widescreen tv's put together so it is hard to get good photos in there of the whole thing.
Sure, aspect ratio, if you wanna get all nerdy about it. The point is, you could have done crop (pillarbox) instead of stretch, but you didn't. Now, some people might be able to live with that just fine, because, you know, the whole screen! and all that. I am not one of those people. Skewed images are wrong images. Regardless, it's a nice home theater setup, no doubt.
Gentlecow it sounds like you know your stuff. And I don't mean to argue with you just for the sake of arguing or anything like that! But one of the things about CH that I kind of like is that it does NOT scale itself to your desktop resolution. If anybody hasn't played around with your resolution settings and tried different ones for CH, I recommend you do give it a try as the amount of game play surface you will see is completely dependent upon the resolution. My main pc monitor is 2550x1440 resolution but the game for me is not very playable at that setting, I actually prefer some lower resolutions to get in closer up to the action.
You can kind of see it in this photo, I have a Nexus 7 in a mount on the center chair and it is running an app that connects up to the HTPC and allows the tablet to function as mouse control. Kind of like having the worlds biggest Ipad.
Heh, thanks. I mangle IPTV and OTT for a living so I do have some idea. That is also why I have an allergy to skewed images. On behalf of my users, I crave the image aspect ratio that the creators intended. When you display a square as a squeezed diamond, or a circle in the shape of an egg, baby designer cries. Yeah, whatever gives you the best experience. I run 1920x1200 and that suits me just fine.
Wow epic man! That is a very cool setup. Bet you no one complains about front row in your setup like they do in large movie theaters, where you have to look straight up and pan your head to see the screen, lol. I would rather be able to play Card Hunter on my tiny phone than a huge movie theater though. Hint Hint Blue Manchu!
