New Party? New Characters?

If I buy new characters, do I lose my old ones, or can I swap them in and out? Also, I'm assuming the new characters start at lvl1 again, which is fine. Are they allowed to get full credit in the treasure hunts, for example? Also what happens to my existing items? It would be goofy to outfit lvl1 characters with over-powered items, but I don't want to lose them for my old party. I suppose I could open a new account, but I'd rather just keep it all together as I figure out good party mechanics. Thanks in advance for answering the questions - I know I could experiment, but I don't want to mess up the progress that I've made so far.

No, they're just removed from active duty if you remove them from your party. You can even save the old party build - using the store retrieve feature so you can switch back and forth between different setups. All old items remain in your keep inventory - nothing is lost unless you sell it and delete your characters actively.

New chars start at lvl 1 - and cost 10 gold, but there's a high level Inn at lvl 12 (I believe, it's moved around a bit), that let's you hire lvl 10 characters - for quite a heftier priece.

Keep your old ones, you can swap them in and out in the keep (multi and single player)

Yes, the ones you buy in the tavern for 10G start at lvl 1. Later on, you unlock another place you can buy higher level characters for 100G

    • Are they allowed to get full credit in the treasure hunts, for example?
Not entirely sure what you mean, but they gain experience in the same way as your original characters.
    • Also what happens to my existing items?
Yep, you keep all your existing items, they're totally seperate from your characters. You can move equipment about between your old/new characters and your stash as you wish.

The only bit of fiddling about you might come across is that you can't remove all characters from your party - you need to reduce down to one, add more, then remove your last character (if you want 3 brand new ones)

On the same note, are you allowed to use the characters Gary gives you in the Adventurer's pack to do the SP campaign? And I also keep hearing stuff about MP equipment not able to be used in SP and vice versa. Is that true? And if so, why are they kept in the same 'bucket' of equipment?

Edit: I think he means do the new characters get the rewards from the Treasure Hunt quests again?

Yes, those count as lvl 1 characters in pve Hatchermit. All items are shared between sp and mp, only level in sp limits what mp gear you can use (due to likely higher token cost).

Treasure hunts don't revert to unbeaten form, the epic reward is only on first beat per account, as items are shared.
